Google are using Hinton's, Hassabis' and Jumper's Nobel Prizes to defend unlicensed AI training on copyrighted work. This is a huge leap of logic. Neither Nobel Prize awarded for AI work this week was for work that trained on copyrighted creative work without permission. The scientific innovation arising from AI comes from models that are not trained on copyrighted creative work without permission. You get the scientific innovation without exploiting the world's creative work.
