The New Zealand government has introduced a new 'Temu tax'. All low-value goods worth less than $1,000 coming into the country as commercial freight are being charged a low-value levy or tax of $2.21. (Watch as that is steadily increased) newstalkzb.co.nz/on-air/mike-ho…

@marks298933 I'd be pretty comfortable with NZF assisting with the candidates selection. It's the lifetime unionists and "academics" on the other side I have more concerns about.

@davedunedin You would need to be very careful about selecting the pool of candidates for the Minsters to pick from. I shudder to think what sort of people NZF Ministers would pick, if given a free hand.

@theplatform_nz MBIE is a rort! Way too many staff, obviously not enough actual work to do, and far too much wasting of valuable taxpayer money on silly pet projects.

It's been good to see NZ cricket back on free to air TV in recent years after Spark Sport's high profile failure. But the return to pay tv at Sky will have implications for the sport's general popularity. ScreenScribe - Top TVNZ Ratings for Kiwi Cricket screenscribe.net/top-ratings-fo…

@saltyreigns NZ media bias is strong. Cabinet shouldn't be about ethnicity but it does currently have 5 Māori cabinet members (same as Ardern in 2020 which was "the highest percentage ever") plus 4 Māori ministers outside cabinet.

@TheRedbaiter Unfortunately PM didn't know his facts but could have responded with... "Our focus is on talent over ethnicity. However we have 5 Māori cabinet members (the same as Ardern in 2020 which was described as the highest percentage ever). We also have 4 Māori ministers outside cabinet"

"Its not a game" Newly recruited Breakfast show presenter Tova O'Brien reprimands the New Zealand Prime Minister for not treating her questions with the seriousness she demands. Mr Luxon was asked about the racial make up of his new cabinet and he was clearly not ready for this line of questioning. He should have been. Anyone paying attention to NZ politics knows the nation's primary govt owned broadcaster has been captured by Maori radicals. TVNZ management are intent on driving a separatist wedge into NZ society and Ms Tova O'Brien is quite clearly on board with this objective. As for playing the game, all Mr Luxon has ever needed to say is that MPs are chosen strictly on merit. Except he can't say this. For he has previously on frequent occasions admitted this is not the case. If the National party would do what voters want it would sell off TVNZ or at least make it subscription only. While National fail to take this simple measure NZ will continue to be divided by taxpayer supported separatist activists who, if TVNZ was privatised, would fade into obscurity.

Why does Tova O'Brien think it's compulsory to have Maori in Cabinet? I'm of Maori descent and believe only the best people should be in Cabinet to represent all Kiwis. Does Tova think Maori should be there because of our race, even if it's not for the betterment of all Kiwis?

@wordsweep299 @Suitandtie9999 The memories of his supporters are short and they are always willing to return to Winston. Hopefully though this time WRP can see the tide is out on that woke gaslighting side of politics.

Yesterday’s TPU poll was actually brutal - showing Labour is nowhere near getting back to power, even with the entire left block and MSM behind them - in the middle of a cost of living and fuel crunch. Providing a masterclass in hypocrisy and sheer desperation, Hipkins accused Winston Peters of sowing division and turning New Zealanders against each other, but still won’t rule out working with him. Despite Peters already ruling out working with Hipkins. “We will set out our position closer to the election.” Pathetic.

@ajthompson13 @bobmccoskrienz Disagree. The head of the Church of England should not be celebrating other religious events like Eid (he even attends and takes part). Western media & companies fall over themselves to mark certain religious “celebrations” but balk at mentioning the Christian part of holidays

@davedunedin @bobmccoskrienz The monarchy always has done that at Christmas and only in 2025 did KC make an a Easter statement as well Wishing people of other faiths, where those people are your subjects, a ‘happy peaceful’ celebration hardly promotes their faith.

There has been much negative comment on X about King Charles III not giving an Easter message Apparently people don’t know that the Monarch doesn’t usually do so but that he did in 2025. That was unusual.

@ajthompson13 @bobmccoskrienz No, as the Supreme Governor of the Church of England and official “Defender of the Faith”, King Charles should issue +ve messages for key Christian celebrations and avoid promoting all other false religions. Too many churches have fallen into the trap of “inter faith for peace”.

@bobmccoskrienz So what are you saying? That he should not ever wish followers of other religions a ‘blessed peaceful’ celebration but should always wish Christian’s the same at Easter, as he does every Christmas? I try not to jump to judgement.

@TheZeitgeistNZ Jonathan is entirely correct. Winston Raymond Peters Is 100% a populist nationalist, not a social conservatives. He can often talk a good talk but has the same bug as Luxon when it comes to actually implementing strong policies.
