@IrishTimes .@davidmcw ignores the endless number of hotels being built in some cities especially Dublin. Our cities now seem to only exist for tourists, residents are being pushed out. The plan to regenerate Dublin will make no difference.

@thejournal_ie The redevelopment of Mountjoy Square does not include a football pitch. The redevelopment was conceived by people who don’t live in the community & want a park that is ill suited to the needs of the local community.

@PBresnihan The government seems intent to allow an unlimited number of data centres despite the burden on the grid & the high prices paid by domestic users to subsidise data centres.

Since 2019, Spain doubled solar + wind capacity. Now electricity prices are some of lowest in EU. Ireland has increased RE capacity but all of this has been absorbed by DC growth. You can't talk about energy transition (including nuclear) in Ireland without talking about DCs.
