Proud to be part of this. If you are watching something on ESPN for the next few months, you get to at least say “yeah, I know that voice!” Also proud to broadcast #NCAAD3 athletics and help shine a brighter light on awesome student athletes, coaches, & others. #WhyD3 #d3soccer

Special thanks to @espn and @espnW on their collaboration on this project, we just saw it air LIVE in between the first inning of the #MCWS game between TCU-ORU on ESPN! // #MaroonMade

@ScottStras Sorry Scott didn’t realize it was you ROFL My point being … it’s Booker. He speaks in a funky way and I suspect in the moment he was focused on providing the replays like Matt does. I don’t think he actually made any decisions.

@ScottStras I did watch the video. I heard him talking about being the source of the official replays. I didn’t hear him say he made an actual decision … We are the official booth providing the replays … and saying “I decided that the ruling is this” are two different things.

This is simply a confusion in terminology. I have been the PBP voice for broadcasts, while also serving as the director and producer of said production. Using the Production Truck software, one has the capability of doing multiple rules and I have frequently run replay for officials while in that role. That does NOT mean I’m deciding what the decision is - I’m just helping produce it for the official(s). The quotes provided in this story are something similar to what I would say about being quiet as a broadcaster because I need to focus on cuing up, slowing down, and whatever for the replay official. I don’t see where Booker Coorigan said he was the actual person providing the decision. Only fault I have for him is I’m in the area and have worked with him before … I could take the production aspects off his plate. Haha
Awful Announcing@awfulannouncing

UPDATE: Awful Announcing has learned that an on-field official may have actually been the one making the replay decision during Saturday's game, raising questions as to why play-by-play announcer Booker Corrigan suggested he was serving as a replay official. awfulannouncing.com/lacrosse/booke…

@sheldon_nixon0 @NCAALAX @danarestia What would watching provide? To hear Booker say they were providing the replays to the officials? If anything you can hear them request different angles.

Yes. Providing the replays to the refs to look at. I’ve done this before. Love booker, but he can say things in an odd way but not have that meaning. But as I’ve run a production and been PBP as well, I’ve made similar comments so it’s understood why you may hear radio traffic or I’m silent for long periods of time.

@james_hoganv I don’t think he was making the decision. He was simply providing the replays using their production truck software so that the officials could see them. I didn’t get any sense Booker made the decision himself.

How can Booker Corrigan who is calling the game as the play by play announcer be the one making the official decision on reviews when he isn’t an official? That’s absolutely insane. How are instant replay decisions being made by someone who isn’t an official?

This is how crazy the atmosphere is at Washington and Lee right now! They are turning people away and they are watching in another room in the building. #d3hoops

The number of shows that do this is basically … any and all. NCIS has been trying to pull off SoCal and other CA places as the DC metro for years. It’s been SOP for decades. I’m actually surprised you are surprised by this. Sure, there is ATL studios, but may not be shooting there either.

🚨#NCAAD3's & #d3hoops's oldest and most episodic show not only took to the road tonight, but added to a record-breaking season. Tonight was our 40th episode of the season and we celebrated in non-DIII Florida! 😆 Be sure to watch the archive featuring great guests from @YUathletics, @HopeAthletics, @BethelRoyals, @CNUathletics, & @HSUAthletics - the show thread was pretty crazy ... but the guests were awesome. 📺WATCH: d3hoops.com/x/k5t23

The most insightful, honest, and fascinating explanation from a player I have ever gotten on what went into his decision-making on a game-ending, potentially game-winning shot. It's not what you are expecting ... trust me. #d3hoops #Hoopsville #WhyD3
Samuel Rosenblatt@Rosenblades

Zevi Samet explains to @d3hoopsville the logic behind his final 30ft shot with 8 secs to go in a tie game: Once you model the possession using advanced clock-management theory, defensive geometry, and expected value of offensive rebounds based on projected angles, the early pull-up becomes the clear play. Jk… But his answer is even more impressive/instructive. #d3hoops

DIII has an operating budget of $46.7m (3.18% of NCAA budget) which goes towards 38 championships in a division of 426 institutions (about 39% of overall membership). ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/about/d3/D3_Fa… DII isn't as forthright about it's budget, but gets 4.37% of NCAA monies for roughly $53.3m ... for 25 championships for it's 292 institution. ncaaorg.s3.amazonaws.com/about/d2/D2_Fa… I never understood why they have their format.

Next time anyone wants to complain about the D3 bracket, just remember the D2 bracket is completely regional. The D3 bracket is way, way, way better. #d3hoops

Considering how much more money DII has than DIII in it's operating budget for significantly less schools and championships... that doesn't really work as an excuse. I saw Kevin at Gettysburg and he wouldn't utter the words other than “medical challenges” … though I had been told. I’m honestly devastated. Kevin is such a great guy who tries hard. I think he's actually a tremendous coach if they could just get better talent. Now I'm hoping to see him on the sidelines next year. Two long standing coaches at McDaniel to be dealing with this … already lost one. Devastatingly sad. #d3hoops #cancersucks
