My best friend was living in Beruit Lebanon as in country manager for a US based oil field construction company when civil war broke out. He barely made it out alive. The Christians were not the ones trying to kill him but were the ones that helped him escape.

And it was for a few decades. The moment Muslim invaders thought they had the numbers, they started a civil war that lasted 15 years because they didn’t want to live with the same Christians who made them part of the country. Thousands of Christians were massacred, Muslims became the majority, Hezbollah took over, and the country hasn’t known peace ever since. Lebanon is the first and ultimate example that coexistence between Christians and Muslims is quite literally impossible. It’s mind-blowing that anyone would use it as an example of coexistence, let alone the Pope.

@davidsenra @tobi Every time I listen to Bernie Sanders, I think of the pie. He is worried about slicing the pie and distributing the crumbs to everyone. I always ask, why not just bake 10 more pies?
Abundance means not having to slice the pie, but instead, share or give away what you can’t eat.

They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound.
All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are.
Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well.
This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world."

Your calculation is flawed. The median household family size is 2.53 persons so the actual homeless expenditure is about 2.+x higher!

NYC spent $81,705 per homeless person last year.. the median American household earned $81,228.. the government spent MORE to keep someone homeless than most families earned to keep themselves housed.. that $81,705 isn't going to the homeless person.. it's going to the system around them.. shelters, administrators, case managers, contracts, overhead.. the industry that manages homelessness.. not the end of it.. if NYC gave every homeless person that money directly.. they could afford nearly 2 years of rent.. most of them wouldn't be homeless anymore.. instead the money goes to the system.. the system keeps running.. the homelessness stays.. and every year they ask for more funding to manage the problem that the funding was supposed to solve.. the homeless are worth $81,705 a year to the system.. they're worth nothing to it solved..

The New York Governor, who told hefty tax payers a while ago to “go to Florida where you belong” is now begging the same ex-taxpayers to come back to New York and pay taxes they left New York to not pay. Because it’s “the right thing to do”. Good luck with that one.
