This is what Scott Boras was waiting on. Let pitching injuries pile up and see who gets desperate for a starter. Not saying the Red Sox are going to go throw money at Jordan Montgomery because of this (they should), but this rotation is really hard to look at without Giolito. Mike Clevinger and Michael Lorenzen are still out there. Now, you don't have any outside starter additions going into the season. Yikes.

It was ridiculous the Red Sox hadn’t paid Jordan Montgomery before Lucas Giolito got hurt. That’s heightened x10 with Giolito now going down with an elbow issue. You need to fill those innings. You badly need stability for this group. Go pay the man. Please.

Interesting to see the Red Sox starters ahead of schedule this spring. Bello, Giolito, Whitlock, and Houck have already thrown live BPs. Pivetta is set to do so today. Big difference from 2023, when Bello was injured and Whitlock/Houck were ramping up from offseason surgeries. As @jcmccaffrey noted, usually this is stuff you see in the second week of camp.
