Wow: New Bears WR Kalif Raymond chose to sign with Chicago in free agency over the Lions to play in Ben Johnson’s offense. “I wanted to play in Ben’s offense. He’s extraordinarily creative, and honestly, you can be in any spot on the offense, and he will find a way to get you the ball. Just to be under him is a great privilege.” Detroit football has not been the same without him.

Scary: Browns superstar QB Shedeur Sanders benching 205 pounds with EASE. Shedeur has put on a serious amount of muscle this offseason. Many people don’t realize how hard this is. 🤯🤯🤯

What a headline. This makes it seem like Buffalo tied it in the final minute and won in overtime or a shootout. Buffalo won 5-0.

@david_cam1 @John_Fanta So? Balance of big story upsets and big matchups. St. Peter’s beat 3 teams beforehand. Blowouts happen anyways, might as well have some interesting spin before. More than enough big matchups in other games

Some thoughts on the NCAA Tournament thus far: Thought this year’s first round delivered more memorable moments & shots than last year. VCU comeback was insane, High Point/Wisconsin + Kentucky/Santa Clara were incredible games. To have 13 of 32 games be decided by 20+ & have no 13-16 seeds winning is obviously tough for the sport because the massive upset is what captivates the country. That’s back-to-back seasons for the first time ever and just the 7th time since ‘85 that seeds 1-4 went unbeaten in first round. Now: From 2007-09, only non top 3 seed to make Elite Eight was Davidson with Steph Curry. Get this: 12 of the 15 wins by 15 seeds in NCAAT history have happened 2012 or later. We’ve had two 16s win in last eight years after it never happened. So, it’s a sharp contrast after the upsets had been as plentiful as we’ve ever seen. But the takes on this feel a bit extreme when literal blue bloods are getting tested or beat by schools with a tenth of their budget, if that. Of course the massive climate change and chaos was going to affect the tournament. That being said, for Siena to do what they did vs. Duke and to watch Furman/Wright St/Kennesaw and some others compete, there were some more interesting games than we saw last year at this stage. Will we see a non high major make the second weekend? It’s possible and needed for the sport — and that’s when you really feel the madness. All this being said, there are a couple upset candidates who lost. Because of conference tournaments, we don’t have Belmont/Yale/Liberty etc in the field. Part of the blessing and curse for some MM leagues because there’s many situations where their best team doesn’t make the dance. College basketball is quite different (the portal chaos plays a mammoth role too) but television ratings have never been better and in a make-or-miss sport, one Oweh miss would change how one feels. Credit to him for drilling it but that’s the thrill of these games. As for mid major coaches ripping high majors for not playing them, they’re right and credit to them for trying to create change but let’s not act like this is a new issue. Upset possible? Yes. But there’s no denying it’s harder. There are still many fun aspects to the tournament that other sports would like to duplicate and it’s even more difficult to do so. Let’s have a Saturday.

@coleadamss People who want Cinderella’s are unbearable. Remember when St. Peter’s was a 15 seed and made it to the elite 8? They had a 25 point deficit elite 8 game loss vs UNC. Grass ain’t always greener.

I may be bought into the idea that the combination of the transfer portal/immediate eligibility and NIL have destroyed Cinderella

NIL killed Cinderella… 10-16 seeds in this year’s men’s basketball tournament went 3-25 in the first round, with an average point differential of -13. Prior to NIL those seeds would typically win about 8 games in the 1st round with a point differential around 1/2 of this year.

Well, this is not an encouraging trend for Cinderellas. ... The NCAA tournament went to 64 teams in 1985. Only 7 times have the 13-14-15 seeds all gone winless in the first round. It's now happened two years in a row (for the first time).

Enough of this narrative. High Point, VCU, Saint Louis all advance. Santa Clara a miracle away of knocking out a blue blood. Siena up on Duke for majority of game. Haven’t had many memorable games today, but the first round product as a whole has been great.

@JakeMarsh18 NIL has killed the opening round of the tournament. Back to back shit years!

I love Better Days. But I think we should give this team its own anthem to identify with. If we’re going to stick with the Goo Goo Dolls, my vote is “So Alive” Music video was filmed at the Buffalo Central Terminal. Featured a boxer from Buffalo Kristen McMurtree. Or if ya’ll think I should screw off and just go with Better Days that’s fine too Any other song suggestions leave em ⬇️
Kerry Chella@CherryKella

Hey @BuffaloSabres, just want to confirm CONFIRM with absolute certainty that the media team is planning a “Better Days” reboot.
