@argofowl The stuck on thinking thing has been happening a lot in the past few days. I have to stop, and tell it that it got stuck and continue.

codex app still has issues with threads that have image generations... it disconnects randomly, and now it's perma stuck on "thinking", i have no idea why this hasn't been fixed yet very annoying tbh

A few days ago everyone was complaining about Codex limits depleting too quickly. This was supposedly fixed. However, the fix seems to have been slowness. All the flow and magic that was happening a few weeks ago is gone. Now I have to wait forever for codex to finish anything.

@gdb The best thing for me at this moment is that I can actually trust it to produce correct code.

The codex slowness seems to be across the board. It was all magical last few weeks. But now, it's painful across the board, can't even connect from my phone. Maybe a new model is coming this week? Either way, hope it gets solved soon.

@blader Totally. Can't trust it for complex and large code bases anymore. It was awesome weeks ago. But it got really bad, even for simple stuff. Jumped ship to codex and it has been amazing so far.

honestly claude code / opus 4.7 feels barely usable compared to codex / 5.5 at this point for any kind of long running / complex engineering work

@jxnlco ChatGPT inside codex app. Since I live mostly inside codex, jumping into ChatGPT for research or random questions that don't require a local folder or having to be connected to my Mac from mobile isn't ideal. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong?

If you're using codex desktop app today, what features do you feel like are still missing? Let me know and I’ll summarize all the feedback and share internally.

@thsottiaux Would love to see ChatGPT inside codex. Sometimes I don't need a local folder to do some research or ask some random questions, and I would love the continuity between mobile and desktop. Right now I need to open ChatGPT for that. Feels weird.

Iterating in the Codex in-app browser is getting faster and more precise. Advanced annotation mode lets you directly adjust page elements while leaving feedback, preview changes instantly, and batch comments for Codex, so designers and developers can show exactly what they want changed without waiting for a full turn.

It’s Codex Thursday, and yes, we have updates for you. First up: Appshots, a new way to bring the context of what you’re working on into Codex. On your Mac, press Command-Command to attach your app window to a Codex thread. Codex gets both a screenshot and text from the window, including content beyond what’s visible onscreen. Appshots are available across plans on Mac, with enterprise access coming soon.

@0xPrajwal_ I didn't move to codex because of limits. Claude became so bad I couldn't trust it to ship production code. That made me give Codex a try. Maybe they fixed it now, but after trying Codex, for the time being, not going back. Started with $100/$100 split, now it's $200 Codex.

@thsottiaux Codex has made it so fun lately to ship high quality code lately. The entire experience is awesome. Codex app, the cli. And I can't wait to see what's next! Would love to see /goal in the app. - mobile needs a bit of work, but it's probably just a matter of time (hours?)

@haha_girrrl Computer science is not simply about writing code. Learn the fundamentals, then you'll be able to enjoy the benefits of building awesome things without the mechanical part of writing the actual "if else". But you need the fundamentals to ensure what you build is solid.

@KaiXCreator It's doing it today. But do not confuse writing code with building robust, scalable, secure, performant software. AI writes 100% of my code today, but it almost never makes the right architectural nuance decisions on its own. I would never ship without reviewing first.

@thsottiaux /goal this PDF report is taking 25-50s to generate. Make it sub 10s. Result: 1.5s to generate the same report with much better quality graphs. And... File size went from 900kb -> 89kb With much less resources: 2 Cores / 4Gbi -> 1 core / 1 Gbi

@thsottiaux Just got Codex for free. /goal optimize my cloud functions which are taking 12-15s to cold start. Start with one. research and test your findings. Then generalize to the others. Result: 1.5-3s cold starts. No need for min instances. My Google Could bill drops by about $120.
