Emerald Downs Book Signing scheduled for May 9 I continue to have a great response to my new book, Betting on Horse$, and I want to sincerely thank all of you for your support. I really enjoy hearing your feedback, it makes the effort feel worthwhile. So keep it coming. I’ll be at Emerald Downs on Saturday, May 9, so if you’re in the area, please stop by and say hello. I will be setup at track level just up the main elevator to the left near the customer service center and across from the gift shop. Just look for the large, Betting on Horse$ banner. If you already have a copy of the book, I’d be happy to sign it. If not, I will have copies available for purchase at the track. If you want to order the book right now at the discounted, early-bird price, then go to betwiththebestmedia.com I hope to schedule additional book signings at other tracks (possible venues include Santa Anita, Del Mar, Monmouth Park, and Saratoga) in the coming months and will keep you posted as those plans develop. Thanks again for all the support.

@BillFinley3 At least some of this handle was coming in from "regular" bettors in Japan; it takes a while for that stuff to funnel into the parimutuel system. This particular mutual had a confluence of events too.

@DRFGrening Any word in Great White getting off the ground and heading to MD? Not hearing his name mentioned anywhere

Thinking only KY Derby winner Golden Tempo is considering the Preakness. A decision on his status unlikely til he returns to track. New names for Preakness include Chip Honcho, Cherokee Nation, Crupper, Iron Honor, Napoleon Solo, Silent Tactic, The Hell We Did, Talkin, Taj Mahal

@ChurchillDowns I'd been a fan since childhood with Spec. Bid and Genuine Risk, but it was Silverbulletday that hooked me completely to this beautiful game

These are two of the five biggest days on the horse racing calendar. I don't have patience to video time races this weekend. Looking at you so far, @BelterraPark and @TampaBayDownsFL

@OutrunTheOdds I will maintain until I die that Silverbulletday wins the Preakness if they had run her a day later in Baltimore. Her Black Eyed Susan is still the stakes record. And let's face it Charismatic was not the scariest of Derby winners coming back.

How many #KentuckyOaks winning fillies have gone on to compete against the boys in a Preakness or Belmont field which included your #KentuckyDerby winner?

An extraordinary honor for Christophe’s Hall of Fame induction. He always put the horse first and believed in doing things the right way. Today we celebrate his legacy—and the village who helped build it. We only wish he were here to share it. Raising a glass of rosé 💙💛

@DRFGrening Really think clement and sheriffs should have got this years ago when they could enjoy the very deserved accolades. Shame on the hall for waiting too long.

@_KyleHampton @Equibase The data point I want is in past performances. I want to know when a horse had a claiming price waived. This is particular important in opt claim. "Not entered for price" is very different than "price waived"

.@Equibase should add a “Nominations” tab to horse profiles, so you can see what stakes a horse is nominated to without having to dig through nomination sheets. Would be a game changer. Concept only (not accurate data). Shoutout to AI for helping visualize the idea.

@OutrunTheOdds When did the 1st and 2nd finishers in the Derby both run as 4yo, much less face each other? I like this developing trend of running to top 3yo as 4yo. Now if we could just get rid of "train up to" and go back to 3-4 weeks between races rather than 5-6 or more.

Who doesn't love trivia? In anticipation of next Saturday's Oaklawn Handicap which will feature another clash between Sovereignty and Journalism, when's the last time the Derby 1, 2 finishers faced each again as 4 YOs and one of them won?

Was thinking it might be time for Nitrogen to get back to the turf, but she ran a 120+ TimeformUS yesterday. The winner was just on a different level.

@JimmyBranch7 @DRFGrening First I agree it was probably a free choice and irad's team feels that is his best chance at the roses. But we dont know. I also think irad would not break a firm contract and risk never getting call on a pletcher horse ever again.

@davidfromATX @DRFGrening I think Irad wants to win a Derby and loyalty or whatever would not keep him from picking the best horse. Imo.

@JimmyBranch7 @DRFGrening Part of my point is we have no idea why irad went to renegade. Did his agent truly get to handicap and pick the best chamce. Or did he have contracts, agreements, etc that made it go one way

Nodouble Breeders Stakes winner TOUCHDOWN ARKANSAS beats open company in Race 8 today, a second level allowance for sprinters. With that win, Touchdown Arkansas has won as many races this meet as the Arkansas Razorbacks football team did all last season.
