The Greens and Reform are just click baiting. Who can trust them? As both Greens and Reform are behaving like tosspots, let's ignore them and vote for parties who know what they're doing.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth made a false claim in his testimony to the House on Wednesday. Then he repeated it in his testimony to the Senate on Thursday. Hegseth said Wednesday: “In 2024, troops were depl… – that was Joe Biden by the way, Joe Biden –  were deployed to polling locations in 15 states." He continued, "2024 – Joe Biden – troops deployed to polling locations in 15 states. Explain that one to me.” Here’s the explanation: Hegseth’s claim isn't true. Not only were all National Guard activations for the 2024 election done by individual states rather than Biden, all 11 states that responded to my inquiries said *no troops* there were sent to polling places. Rather, they said, Guard personnel were in other locations helping with election cybersecurity, doing other behind-the-scenes support work, or not actually activated for the election after all. @martinshawx @StGeorgeofTuf @ZackPolanski @martinshawx's definition of genocide only fits his prejudices. If other people disagree, he doesn't engage. He, like many, is a dupe of a Soviet project to attach the idea of genocide to (uniquely) Israeli policy in order to gain some traction during the Cold War.

Israel is committing genocide, the vast majority of genocide scholars (of whom I am one) and human rights organisations agree. @ZackPolanski is only stating a well-established truth. The campaign against him is a campaign of genocide denial.
Saul Staniforth@SaulStaniforth

Melanie Phillips accuses @ZackPolanski of inciting hatred because he says Israel is committing genocide. Israel is committing genocide, & when it comes to who actually incites hatred, lets remember that mass murderer Anders Breivik quoted Phillips multiple times in his manifesto

@DAaronovitch @jowilliams293 Private education is not the same as it was 35 years ago. It's vastly more expensive, so much so that it has outpriced its core market, and the source of the values it claims to inculcate, the aspiring middle class.

Typical rightist scaremongering. Inflated property prices in London have nearly ruined a lovely city. Anything that bursts the bubble, even a bit, is a good thing. thetimes.com/article/b9fcb3…

Wrong. The Jews were expelled from England by King Edward I in the 13th century and were only allowed back in during the Commonwealth in the mid 17th century.
Anne Estella חיה@AnneEstellaRock

When Brits complain that Jews and Muslims have brought their “dessert feud” to the U.K., they need to understand this: Jews have lived peacefully in Britain for over a thousand years and in all that time have never gone around trying to kill, stab or blow anyone up. 👇

@KemiBadenoch @simonmontefiore Pretty weak, really. Not all of this stuff comes from newcomers. Many of the antisemitists are born and bred here 'welcome' or not. Just come out clearly against antiseminism; tell your activists that it's unacceptable too.

So disgusted by this… Worked with Maureen in 2015 on a play, in Birmingham & London, & there were concerns for her safety even then. This abysmally foul & downright dangerous attempt to demonise & cancel her should outrage & sicken us all. Arts: SPEAK UP & OUT! RT 🙏

Today we announce a new policy: In order to deport all illegal migrants in Britain, Reform will need to detain tens of thousands at a time. Migrants will not be able to leave these detention centres, and each will be held there a couple of weeks before being deported. So here’s our promise: A Reform government will not put any migrant detention facilities in any constituency with a Reform MP. Nor will we put them where Reform controls the council. And of the remaining areas, we will prioritise Green controlled parliamentary constituencies and Green controlled councils to locate the detention centres. Put simply, if you vote in a Reform council or Reform MP, we guarantee you won’t have a detention centre near you. If you vote Green, there’s a good chance you will. This is an important exercise in democratic consent, not just for our mass deportation policy, but for where the detention centres are placed. Given @ZackPolanski openly advocates for open borders, I look forward to their warm embrace of this policy. votegreengetillegals.com

@theo_nash Prehistoric archaeologists have led terrific theory-based change, because all they have is the trash and ruins. In that, they're the experts. But problems arise when theory-based archaeology meets actual verbal memories which have narrative, however garbled.

The opposite is true, actually. It is tremendously difficult to tell the story of the human past with only trash, ruined buildings, and tombs. The trouble starts when people assume that it is easy, based on dimly-remembered, watered-down high school textbooks, and then try to dunk on the specialists when new evidence proves them wrong.
wanye@xwanyex

So, are archaeologists just, like, retarded, or what? I’m never going to understand this thing where educated people would rather look stupid than say something that violates their politics. It’s such a black pill. You really have to imagine of people like this that there’s nothing they wouldn’t do, no evil they wouldn’t countenance. They’ll literally just say anything. They can be made to believe anything.

FIONA HILL: Massive weakness of Trump that Russia exploits is that Putin knows Trump himself is very prone to conspiracy theories. Putin knows that Trump lives in a world of memes and tropes on Truth Social, and he will take on board almost anything that is fed to him. When I was in Trump’s first administration, Trump would sometimes pick up on things, and you’d realize, “This is Russian propaganda.” That’s actually what I said during first impeachment. Russians are just amplifying all of this because they know Trump will believe it.

This Two Ronnies sketch was never televised originally (it appeared many years later), but I’ve no idea why. It was written by Ronnie Barker, under the pseudonym Gerald Wiley, and for my money it gives Four Candles a run for it’s money. Seriously, if I’d written something this good I’d just retire immediately. What a talent! Good morning.
