In a functioning economy, authority is tied to liability. If you make a bad decision, you lose your own money. That fear of loss is the only thing that keeps a business honest. It forces you to cut waste, obsess over the customer, and stay late to fix what is broken.

Chamath on why organizational charts tend to reward the wrong types of employees Rings very true from my experience as well. The more layers you have in a company, the more it accelerates the careers of individuals who are good at playing the corporate game Over time you create a loop where actual technical talent leaves due to lack of career mobility, until you are left with people who sound smart but can accomplish nothing

Nobody tells you this: You can get pretty damn far in life by just being someone people can count on to show up and do the work. Reliability is the cheat code. Stop overcomplicating success. Show up, do the work, repeat. That’s it.

Risk taking and risk management are 2 entirely different sports The former is done by entrepreneurs, the latter by corporate bureaucrats

An intelligent man never argues to win. He engages to understand and disengages when there is nothing left to learn.

How much information can a story really contain? Did the authors know the information they were representing when they wrote the story? No (similar to words in a song) We never fully understand or know the full extent we communicate or imagine - Everything has implications beyond what we can apprehend -Story (consciousness) shapes itself by being maximally memorable and striking across time so to be etched in our memory -Stories that do that, inevitably has a ringing of deep meaning and truth -And that’s how things come to be ….Jordan Peterson

I'm going to keep posting this Alstair Begg clip "The Man on the Middle Cross" (less than four minutes in length) every Holy Week, because its message is true in 2026, it will be true in 2036 and it will be true in 3036. "If i take my eyes off the cross, I can then give only lip service to its efficacy while at the same time living as if my salvation depends upon me. And as soon as you go there it will lead you either to abject despair or a horrible kind of arrogance. And it is only the cross of Christ that deals both with the dreadful depths of despair and the pretentious arrogance of the pride of man that says you know, I can figure this out."
