@katewillett the NIMBY answer to housing is “have generational wealth “. try asking yourself why a comedian that barely tours is so well off? the answer is generational wealth!

It’s not lost on me that Houston Texas is THE PLACE Yimby’s aspire to emulate. No zoning! Minimal labor laws! And yet, here they are building a prison camp for their homeless neighbors instead of providing housing. This is the YIMBY utopia:
Houston Mayor's Office@houmayor

Proud to host @HUDgov Deputy Secretary Hughes at 419 Emancipation Ave, Houston’s holistic transition facility serving those experiencing homelessness. A strong example of government working together to deliver real results. A model for the nation.

YIMBYIsm simultaneously requires thinking that simply lifting zoning laws will cause developers to build themselves to bankruptcy and that the government building housing for everyone is nearly impossible due to the amount of money required

A major new study has confirmed what many of us know from reading all previous research. Socialists in NYC should care about this, bc Mayor Mamdani has filled his administration with developer hawks in hopes of delivering the Affordability Agenda. It won’t.

Is there an org pushing Dems on tax cuts? Hochul is trying to eliminate a tax on tips, Booker proposing no tax on first 72k, Van Hollen trying to eliminate taxes on first 46k, Porter eliminating state income tax on first 100k and now this. What is behind this insane trend?
Keisha For Georgia@KeishaForGA

At last night’s forum, Keisha shared why she’s running for governor to fight for YOU by: ✔️ expanding Medicaid ✔️ addressing the affordability crisis ✔️ creating a pathway to free technical and community college ✔️ eliminating state income taxes for teachers

@Nowooski for me, the last straw was local governments weaseling out of the 2/3 approval requirement to raise taxes but loudly encouraging “citizen” initiatives

Progressive candidates for governor are promising big tax cuts, meanwhile Bay Area governments keep piling new taxes on the June and November ballots. A big backlash is coming and I’m not sure our local elected officials are ready for it.
Katie Porter@katieporterca

0% state income tax for California families making under $100,000. That’s thousands of dollars back in your pocket where it belongs. As Governor, I’ll work the issue at both ends—lowering taxes for those who are struggling and raising them on the biggest corporations that can afford to pay.

@SpecialPuppy1 You’re actually seeing the start of a new institutional cycle akin to the change after the first Civil War. Americans are in the process of redefining how their government operates. The end state is the corps that run will also fund it.

@brownandbella this mentality is what is hurting the Dems overall. sure, you can frame this seat as prize to be won, but is it really good for the American people to have a Congress full of octos?

You want his seat? PULL UP! Run against him. Boots on the ground, in his district, facing front. If you can’t do that, if you can’t beat the OCTOGENARIAN in a foot race, and you complain to the imaginary refs about them not just forfeiting to you, YOU the one I don’t want. YOU!

Some of y’all just write stuff that isn’t based on anything factual. If you are going to write about how Congress operates, actually know how it operates. I co-wrote a book a few years back about Congress … get it from the library, read it and then let’s have a discussion. amazon.com/Climbing-Hill-…

Reminder that giving gavels out based primarily on seniority is not a law of nature - it’s a practice that was pushed by Reps like Clyburn. It punishes younger Members, who bring updated knowledge, new ideas, and energy, & favors safe seats over those who make majorities.

Met a typical 26 year old woman earning middle class salary of $375,000 plus RSUs. Just bought a modest $1m starter home in Little Silver, NJ. (couldn’t afford Rumson yet) Commutes to NYC for work everyday (knows remote work pays badly) Instead of complaining like most people her age she is out crushing it working for the company her dad is the founder of. Why aren’t more young people doing this?
