@GaryHPhillips I do find a bit of irony in players saying “it’s all about the money”. Yes it is, and BTW you’re one of the main benefactors of that money. Unfortunately, I don’t know how things get brought back to the way it was, unless it falls under MLB.tv and cost skyrockets

@davidrsoffer You mean New Balance and Fanatics spent 28 mil on Flagg and not just for his one season. Companies drop the big bucks for the elite. The schools handle the rest. UNC pays their GM 1 mil a year. They're not behind anyone when it comes to resources.

@playorbplayd Guess again. sportico.com/leagues/colleg… Check UNC Fan Board. They’ve been trailing Duke & others ever since NIL started. Now, as I mentioned, they tried to catch up, so the question is what is the commitment going forward. But to suggest UNC has been spending the same isn’t true.

@playorbplayd Used to be. Unclear what it is now. While Duke spent a rumored $28M on Flagg, UNC entire NIL budget was around $4M. Now it’s rumored to be up to $14M. Not sure what it looks like going forward, but as of this moment, it seems UNC may be behind the eight ball when it comes to NIL.

Of course, the bottom line remains that as MLB fights a salary cap, no one fights to pay minor leaguers a decent salary

@TalkinGiants I’d have to watch the full show, but the clip doesn’t really get at the nuance. For instance, the Edmonds contract doesn’t count against the formula because he was cut. Same with Mooney. So, I’d argue it seems they are playing that game to a degree.

@nyytakes I don’t think after 8 yrs of playoff games it’s unfair. Hes had countless opportunities to show up when it matters. Rarely happens. Not even asking to elevate his game. I don’t even care about WBC, but I noticed he said it was the biggest game in his career & bet his unders.
