In February 2007, Polish-German paraglider Ewa Wiśnierska was on a routine training flight in Australia when a massive thunderstorm swept her up in its updrafts. She was carried to nearly 33,000 feet, higher than most commercial jets fly, in temperatures of around -50°C, with almost no oxygen. She lost consciousness for around 40 minutes. Miraculously, as the storm weakened, her paraglider descended on its own. She survived with only minor frostbite. Doctors later noted that losing consciousness may have actually saved her, as her body required less oxygen in that state. A fellow pilot, Chinese paraglider He Zhongpin, was caught in the same storm and was not as lucky, his body was found nearly 50 miles from the launch site.

Our moments of dignity are being robbed from us on a daily basis by a hostile government that values the lives and experiences of those from outside our shores than it does for those who live here! With us, this would NEVER happen. Our solution to this unfairness is simple: Equal treatment for ALL citizens. This is SOUTH AFRICA!! Cape Town must work for ALL of us who call it home.
