The facts that our political system is largely theatrical, that in any large majority government we become an autocracy. That a PM has more power than in almost any other country. That there are few rules and checks on MPs. No independent expert body to look to legislation or budgets - are all open secrets in the world of professional politics. Stop complaining about small stuff and realise the problems are far larger than MP expenses. They may well be a small issue too and there’s maybe a reason to look but on the grand scheme of things constantly shining light on micro issues only benefits MPs and politicians and continues this embarrassing game of attempting to degrade the other side rather than put forward anything constructive
