This is actually unbelievable. Here, Zia Yusuf (Reform's 'Shadow Home Secretary') is effectively *threatening* voters by saying they will place migrant detention centres in their constituencies if they don't vote in a Reform MP or a Reform Council. This is absolutely disgusting.

🧵Parkrun has recently been in the spotlight regarding the battle for women's rights. The organization allows men to run in a "female" category where they are then ranked and their times are compared to those of actual female participants. There has been a lot of talk about how this is necessary for "inclusivity" without any explanation as to why. In fact, many of the men who run in the "female" category had no problem previously running in the "male" category, and parkrun even offers a "prefer not to say," option so that men who don't want to call themselves men don't have to. Despite all of this, these men receive quite a bit of support in registering as "female" without the majority actually understanding who it is they're really supporting. So I'd just like to take a minute to introduce you to a few men who believe themselves entitled to run as a "female" participant. Of course, this is not all. The storage of ‘toxic’ nuclear fuel is often used to deflect from a worsening reality - graveyards packed with unrecyclable wind turbine blades.
While the European wind industry recently called for a landfill ban, nations are scrambling for solutions that don't exist. Germany, Finland and the Netherlands have already banned blade landfills, leading to a shell game where blades are exported to the UK or France to be buried. It's a worsening graveyard crisis with no end in sight.
By contrast, the spent nuclear fuel isn’t ‘waste'. That's a fundamental misconception. Roughly 96% of the energy remains in the fuel after its first cycle. Nations like France and Russia already recycle this into MOX (mixed oxide) fuel. We aren't facing a disposal problem; we're sitting on a massive energy stockpile.
Physics provides the finish line - because radioactivity isn't permanent. Within approximately 1,000 years, the radiotoxicity of spent fuel returns to levels comparable to the original uranium ore found in the ground. Compare this to common industrial wastes like lead, arsenic, and mercury, which never decay and are toxic for eternity, yet they escape the 'forever storage' scrutiny applied to nuclear.
Furthermore, next-generation Fast Reactors are designed to burn the long-lived isotopes (actinides) that drive public concern. This technology reduces required storage from millennia to centuries while extracting decades of further electricity.
We don’t need to store nuclear fuel forever - but we need to stop treating a high-density energy resource as if it is trash. It's not.
Meanwhile, the real problem of turbine graveyards gets worse.

Left voters are losing their minds over Zia Yusuf and Reform UK’s new policy. But where’s that outrage been for years?
This has always had a class edge!
Working-class towns and city centres have carried it. Affluent areas haven’t. People have sat in comfortable postcodes shouting “refugees welcome” while making sure it never lands on their doorstep.
Look at Hull. Spring Bank, Beverley Road, city centre. That’s where the pressure is.
Then look at Cottingham, Kirkella, Swanland, Beverley. Not the same, is it?
It’s not hatred. It’s people being fed up of being told what’s good for them by people who never have to deal with it. Now it’s hitting closer to home and suddenly there’s a problem.
If you campaign for it, you don’t get to dodge it. If you want it, you take it.
