John Jones was stuck like this for 27 hours in Nutty Putty Cave, Utah, before he died.
In the final hours, rescuers considered pulling him out, knowing it could break his spine and legs. The risks were too high, and the team ultimately decided it would be more humane to let him die.
The rescue team stayed in contact with him until the very end; trapped upside down, he eventually went into cardiac arrest and died.
@ManifestHistory Won’t recommend the plan, but will recommend using the enduringword.com website as a helper to understand what you just read. Good commentary.
I’ve finally decided to read the entire bible. So far, I’ve read Genesis and Exodus. I’m obviously really interested in reading the Gospels and New Testament. I’m debating skipping ahead to the Gospels. What do you recommend I do: Read the bible from front to back or skip ahead and read the Gospels (or entire New Testament) and then go back to the Old Testament.
Okay, going to stop you right here. You don't get to psychoanalyze me because you disagree with me. I have no trauma. I am on the path I was chosen to walk. I am on the path I myself chose to walk. You call something a sin, that is not a sin. You're not following the Bible, but a man who hated women, hated sex, and hated marriage. His name was Jerome.
If a young man experiences sexual desire the Christian church will shame him for having problems with lust and self-control.
Having no way to cope and no support, he goes inward and turns to porn.
Then the church shames him again.
This is why porn will always be a bigger problem for Christian men than secular men.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ You don’t know me as much as you think you do. And think you are on the wrong path. But I will leave that to you and your conscience, and God. Good day
Lust is not a sin. Let's get that right, right now. Lust is Strong Desire. And as for married couples being married... lol, that's rich. By the standards of what marriage is in the OT, that is the true standard, almost no-one in the USA is married.
You claim I have a twisted view. Today, I talked to a man who ran a church. He could not understand me when I adamantly told him that I was not seeking followers, and would never be a preacher or pastor. He just couldn't understand. It was sad, really. As I walked out, I said out loud that very thing. He just doesn't understand.
You're trying to fit what I'm saying into your own preconceptions. I don't share your preconceptions. You see everything through the lens of a man standing at a lectern, presenting a show, and gathering money from a plate. It's one of the oldest con-games that has ever existed. These sins you keep trying to convince me are real, and terrified that I reject, are not sins. I don't share your biases and preconceptions there, either.
Masturbation is listed in the Law. The punishment for it is the same as for touching a dead animal or a bug. Wash your hands, keep away from others until dusk. These rules were not put into place for their sin aspect, but hygiene aspects. They are not sins.
God told men that he wanted them to make lots of babies. He said lots and lots and lots of babies. Do you think Adam and Eve had a preacher marry them? Do you think Moses had a preacher marry him? Do you think Joseph had a preacher marry him and Miriam? You don't know what marriage is. I don't blame you for that. It has been all but erased from history. But the bible, the book you rely on so much... Jesus didn't make it. A gay man who hated women, did. One of the books in it I find untrustworthy, and sadly, it's also the book almost always quoted. The hatred of masturbation, seeing women nude, perpetual virginity for a woman with a lot of kids, and priests so damned horny they molest children? Not to mention the 3-400,000,000 + dead at the hands of the very people who made the Bible?
dbatthebeach, we are DYING as a species. Your doctrine did it.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ I am not sure what your motivation is, but defending porn is definitely not on the path of righteousness.
I am sorry if you have some past trauma, or someone you know does, but there is a healthy place to live between throwing stones and convincing yourself that sin is not sin.
@dbatthebeach@BradleyGrey_ You take it one step too far. You really should study Hebrew if you're going to subscribe to the religion based on the language.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ You have a twisted sense of things. Pornography is a decidedly divulgence into lust, nobody in porn is ever married, and you are trying to put it in the same box as kids hearing or witnessing their parents have sex in the next room?
@dbatthebeach@BradleyGrey_ I absolutely refuse to tell a young person that sex harms them. Imagine you're Moses. You live in a tent, so does everyone else. Kids with parents, one room. This is why porn as people call it today, will never go away. We didn't always have walls.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ committing fornication physically (the porn actors) and spiritually (the voyeurs).
Again though it isn’t something to shame a young person into feeling terrible about themselves. But it isn’t healthy.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ “Adultery, as a sin, requires physical action, penetration, to be a valid sin.”
No, not correct. You seem to take the liberty of personal interpretation. The whole point of this chapter has to do with purifying the heart, and people participating in porn and watching it are
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ Sorry but no, watching people have sex just isn’t right. I’m not here to damn anyone. But to pass it off as harmless and “natural” is not correct. But it doesn’t mean young men have to be stoned over doing it. You just tell them that it harms them, and try to focus elsewhere
You bear false witness to others, and harm them. Adultery is no joke, and I am not joking. Adultery is a sin that will destroy you, and everyone around you. It's a sin for a reason. It is damaging, hard to recover from, and many never do. It destroys you from the inside out. I cannot express how much damage it does... just as murder will wear on your soul for a lifetime, and you will never be the same as before.
Pushing this onto some teenagers who get on the net and watch others have sex while getting some personal relief, IS a sin. YOU harm THEM with this bullshit. Young men, every single day, KILL THEMSELVES because you and others like you push this false doctrine, unhealthy narrative. They are shoved between two anvils, and crushed by this. The anvils are their own hormones, the ones God give them, the ones that God purposely created and put in our minds and bodies... the ones that trying to oppose them will destroy us - and the other anvil of your fake doctrine that wants them to think they have committed one of the most horrific sins known.
I am literally here, writing, helping thee people - your victims - trying to show them that porn is not a sin and masturbation is not a crime, a sin, or wrong. I give them the same advice I give now and surprisingly the same advice the Bible gives.
Keep it clean, have fun, and wash your hands. When you meet someone like this guy? Run away. He just wants to destroy you.
@OleVanishing@MichaelLKatz He first offered him $1 million. He had to double that to get him. That isn’t indicative of a kid that really wanted to be there. It was all about the money.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ As for masturbation, yes it is sometimes necessary. But if it includes adultery in the heart, fornication in the heart, then you are missing the mark. Sexual immorality is a strong sin, which is why the gentiles were specifically told to avoid it out of many other sins.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ A publication of sexuality is porn. Now you can come back and attempt to debate this definition, but that isn’t really the point. The point is if indulging in porn is sinful or not- yes it is. Just as Christ said adultery in the heart is still adultery, so goes fornication.
@TScatteredFlock@BradleyGrey_ Masturbation and porn aren’t the same thing.
Porn increases sexual desire. There is nothing good that comes from increasing sexual desire apart from desiring one’s wife or future wife.
Porn should not be a problem for any man. Men are sexual beings, and they have strong desires. Saying that they only masturbate because of porn, is like saying they only eat because of food. It's not right. It is about shame. But the Bible doesn't treat it that way. If a man masturbates, the punishment was washing his hands, and being unclean until sunset - the same punishment for touching a dead insect.
@BOSSportsGordo When you arrive, you see all around you and know who is walking and driving toward you. You have been driving already and are warmed up.
When you leave you are cold to driving, and by the time you get in and start the car new people and cars could be approaching.
@sola_chad@Joeggernaut90 Depends, doesn’t it? Is this representing love for a few lucky ones, or love for all, even in the face of their rejection and rebellion?
One of these is a very small, limited love. The other is maximal love.
@Ravenismeee Of course it is. It is enough to pay off all debts, so you have no house payment or vehicle payment, and then leftover enough to invest. Then you have the luxury of taking a lower paying job that is more enjoyable and less stressful. Huge change in life.
