🔴 ¿Por qué gotea la puñetera tetera? ¡¡¿POR QUÉ?!! Tengo 31415926535 cosas que hacer, pero he parado todo para incursionar brevemente en el excitante mundo de la mecánica de fluidos y comprender por qué sufro este tormento cada vez que pido un té. ¡No estoy solo! En 1956 un tal Markus Reiner, científico y reólogo¹ israelí, se hizo la misma pregunta y trató de responderla científicamente. Reiner pensó que la tetera gotea por el efecto Bernoulli, un fenómeno conocido desde hace siglos que dice que la presión de un fluido baja cuando sube su velocidad. Según Reiner, al inclinar la tetera se reduce la cohesión interna de las moléculas del té y esto las «pega» al borde, provocando el goteo. Pero Reiner estaba equivocado. Resulta que la tensión superficial del agua y la adherencia entre el líquido y el metal tienen mucho que ver en un fenómeno que es bastante más complejo de lo que parece. A tenor, al menos, de lo que dice una publicación científica de 2010² y unas investigaciones de 2021.³ También se quedaron por el camino las explicaciones que atribuyen el goteo al efecto Coandă.⁴ ¡Ah, el fascinante mundo de la hidrodinámica! 😅 Como especie, hemos tardado más en comprender esto que en enviar un paisano a la Luna. 🟢 ¿Y cómo tiene que ser la tetera para que no gotee? Pues tampoco es fácil. La tetera ideal tiene un recubrimiento hidrófobo en el pico, que evita que el té se «pegue» al recipiente. Y su pico es cortante, no redondeado. La tetera perfecta no tiene una salida recta —como la de mi vídeo de abajo— sino curva: el líquido sube… y después baja un poco antes de abandonar el recipiente. De este modo la gravedad contrarresta la querencia del líquido por «pegarse» al material. 🟢 Cómo verter té sin necesidad de una fregona ¡No la llenes mucho y viértelo deprisa!
