@CalumDouglas1 Very cool. I'm curious exactly how it as used. If you have the actual vertical profile of pressure and temperature, you can calculate the altitude as a function of pressure very closely without relying on the usual semi-empirical standard-atmosphere relationships.

A lot of you were very close, but not quite. Its a "Baro-Thermograph", and was made by the National Physical Laboratory for the Bristol altitude records in the 1930`s. To get really accurate altitude measurements you cant just use pressure at very high levels because you get near the Tropopause where the equations for altitude vs pressure change.
