2/2 … a second tier that has becoming out of reach for many clubs due to the financial ‘standards.’ There are so many areas that clubs need support in and current proposals, in my opinion, fail to reflect those. Disappointing

1/2 Long term sustainability , empowering its own development section, commercial backing to better support clubs in meeting the costs of achieving minimum standards, ensuring meeting ground grading doesn’t come at the cost of having clubs play outside of their communities…
Tom Garry@TomJGarry

Exclusive: A plan for WSL academy sides to join the #FAWNL from 2027 has now received FAWNL board approval, but the idea of a mid-season split has been dropped. Next, these revised proposals require FA board approval. Decision expected in July. More here. theguardian.com/football/2026/…

Literally this. The FA had the chance to build an organic and sustainable version of the women’s football pyramid. Instead, they decided they’d rather cherry pick all the worst bits from the men’s. Then pat themselves on the back for doing so. The only people that suffer are the players and the supporters; and who cares about them???
Abby Pope@popeyxx

😔 Sad watching part of the women’s game that built the foundations slowly being pushed further and further to the side. Womens football was special because it felt connected and attainable. There’s a real danger we start repeating some of the worst parts of the men’s game.

@zandiethornton 41 years since a club outside of Celtic and Rangers won it, would have been good for the league as a whole to have had a different winner. Credit Hearts though, made it an interesting season

Scottish football reverts to type and continues to be an absolute predictable borefest. Makes you wonder why any other club bothers turning up.

👏 A thoroughly deserving winner. In balancing work and football responsibilities it would be understandable to say no to volunteering more hours to football, but Abbi is always giving of her time to inspire the next generation of goalkeepers. Congratulations @Abbibond1 #ECFC

Congratulations to @Abbibond1, who has been named our @PFA Community Champion for the 2025/26 season! 👏 Abbi’s dedication to developing young female goalkeepers has seen her support grassroots clubs throughout Devon, offering encouragement, visibility and help with training methods. Volunteering her time to ensure aspiring goalkeepers have opportunity and confidence to improve, Abbi’s presence in engaging with young players and supporters is evident both on matchdays here at City, and in the time she spends assisting grassroots clubs. At a club that puts the community at the heart of all that it does, Abbi has represented herself and the club superbly throughout her time at Exeter City and is hugely deserving of this year's award 🏆 #ECFC | @ExeterCCT

Purely based on servicing the elite and taking 0 interest in the rest of the pyramid. Players should be put into the right environment on dual reg from 16 whether that’s tier 4/5. Exposure to adult football early. Not many are ready at that age for regular football at tier 3
Tom Garry@TomJGarry

Sue Day, the FA’s director of women’s football, has defended plans to radically change the #FAWNL's structure, including adding 4 WSL PGA sides to tier three, saying she believes the plans are "vital to securing the long-term success of women’s football.” theguardian.com/football/2026/…
