This is such dumb gimmick to catch dumb voters. You could just hand out subsidised discount cards and distribute them to poor people if you were really serious about grocery communism. It's 10x more efficient and logical than opening 5 random subsidised grocery stores that most people don't have access to, and which also drives surrounding private stores out of business. This is a ~$100M PR-stunt that further makes democracy look like a total joke

Some libertarians support open borders. They believe people have a right to migrate and that the government shouldn't restrict immigration. Other libertarians support restricting immigration because we have a welfare state. Their argument is that if the welfare state were eliminated, open borders would no longer be a problem. I no longer think that. Even without a welfare state, unrestricted immigration can create challenges. Cultural compatibility matters. A society depends on shared norms like trust, respect for the law, and nonaggression. If you admit large numbers of people who don't share those norms, you'll likely face problems that didn't exist before.

Democrats should put together their own voter ID bill. It contains ONE thing... it demands that all voters have a specific ID that is free of charge and easily accessible. Nothing else appears in the bill... just the ID. Why? Because watch Republicans reject it 100%. It's not just about IDs, folks. It's about the two dozen other provisions in those bills. Show the public that the ID part is pure theater.
