@mustyoshi @yinyang_yo_ No. Because money is a finite resource and they need to sell/make money to have $ to build. Developers go wherever the least resistance and most profit is. Rent control and requiring set-asides and subsidies for affordable housing are incentives to build elsewhere

There's a nice 55+ apartment complex down the road from me that looks like a pretty nice option down the road for me and the wife. Staying in such a large and empty home as an old man seems ridiculous and needlessly expensive.

@dcinsb @yinyang_yo_ It's a vicious cycle. Many boomers and older Gen-X are refusing to downsize which creates a bottleneck in housing. I think some higher property taxes targeting elderly empty-nesters in large homes could help alleviate that.
