I wonder if that's why he resigned—he seemingly caved on vaping only to find out a day or so later that he was at risk of being pushed out or fired anyway. He's probably caved previously on other issues but it's never enough for this White House. One of the stories said that he told FDA staff not to share regulatory decisions with HHS staff before public announcements were made because HHS has a leaking problem he reportedly said

Fascinated by the dueling narratives emerging over Marty Makary's exit at FDA. Strikes me that a few things can be true. 1) There were efforts afoot, for weeks, to oust him. 2) He also pushed back on vaping policy (but approved it, contra claims that was his breaking point).
