I would like to announce my next classical matches. May 24-26 vs Jorden Van Foreest (Belgrade) 6 games classical 60+30 May 29-June 1 vs Ian Nepomniatchi (Belgrade). 8 games classical 60+30 I believe 1-1 matches are the future of chess, inviting all chess content creators to both matches!

The game between Richard Rapport and Ruslan Ponomariov ended in a solid draw! The Menorca Masters 2026 is an Invitational Rapid tournament. Gukesh, Nihal, Harikrishna, Rapport, Dominguez, and Ponomariov are the players! Graphic: Anmol Bhargav Photos: Saji Mathew

The Master trickster Nihal Sarin kicked off the Menorca Masters 2026 with a win! In a wild battle where Nihal was in trouble at the start, he came back and outplayed Pentala Harikrishna to score the full point.

That is a total BS, pardon my French. Just check the figures on the FIDE official broadcast - for example round 1 had 501k views on the main broadcast, plus over 250K combined on individual board streams. And then add chess24, and chessbase india. I don't know who and how came up with the figures you mention.

Candidates viewership is on track to be 40% lower than 2024. (125k avg viewers 2024 vs 80k avg viewers 2026). Total disaster. But let’s see some more X posts from @EmilSutovsky

Dear chess friends, I am closely following the current situation in Cyprus and understand that it is becoming increasingly critical. With @humpy_koneru Humpy Koneru reportedly considering participation in the Candidates Tournament, it becomes even more important to ensure that all players can compete in a safe and stable environment. In this regard, FIDE has already been informed of our readiness to support and provide an immediate solution if required. Should it be necessary, we stand ready to act immediately. We can organize the Candidates Tournament in Germany, ensuring maximum safety and reliability for all participants and officials. Germany offers world-class infrastructure and security - conditions essential for an event of this importance. All organizational and logistical expenses would be fully covered by WR Chess, with our full commitment and responsibility. Our priority is clear: to protect the players, preserve the integrity of the competition, and ensure that the tournament can take place under the best possible conditions. @anishgiri @GMHikaru @FabianoCaruana @ChessbaseIndia @humpy_koneru @rpraggnachess @GMJSindarov @FIDE_chess

@ChessNumbers @anishgiri Thank you. You are doing an awesome contribution to chess and its fans. I look forward to your next cameo on @ChessbaseIndia , if you get a chance to discuss possibilities (and probabilities) as we enter the last 3 months.

@ddlj81 @anishgiri I mean it's not quite true that he can't mathematically be caught, but it would take such an incredibly precise combination of results for someone to catch him that I don't see it as plausible. I do think if he scores zero in opens, his current 107 will still be enough.

A bit ago I wrote an article "Can Pragg be caught in the FIDE Circuit" and I said yes, even if not too likely. But he just got his 4TH 20+ point event score of the year and at this point no. He won't be caught. But if he wins the Grand Swiss the battle for 2nd gets interesting!

@anishgiri @ChessNumbers Won’t he still need open tournament ? 1 if counting 5, or 2 if counting 7? In which case, that will replace the current. Are you saying even if he scores zero from open, he is through and can’t be caught? If so, fantastic for him.

@TakeTakeTakeApp , In trying to add more features to home page, you seem to be taking away the main functionality of the app - to get to see games. Now it takes an insane 5 clicks to go from home page to see a game. Why? Why? Why? Can you not simply?

@elonmusk why don’t you have a public leaderboard in Tesla, on accounts that have driven the most “autopilot” miles?

@TakeTakeTakeApp @chesscom Thank you. And separately to @chesscom , Why such a taste for the UI? Two back buttons , one that goes back in “stack” endlessly (top left ) and another needing an infinite scroll if too many games to even get to? Perennial issues for years.

@TakeTakeTakeApp , the games have begun but the app is not showing them. Disappointed that there is still not a single app where with one or two clicks, you can watch daily top level games. @chesscom app is too cumbersome.
