These were predictable, avoidable missteps. Many of us struggled to understand why @Baseapp leadership kept pushing features users clearly didn’t want. The hardest part? Users weren’t asking for any of this. They wanted a world-class wallet. In my view: 🔥 Whoever is behind this pivot 🔫 @Baseapp and refocus on the core Coinbase app - Concerned yet hopeful shareholder

Another incredibly underwhelming launch today: Aztec They raised $157M and are now trading at $59M market cap, $215M FDV. Even that feels too expensive. Their public sale two months ago was at a $480M FDV, immediate losses of over -50%. Retail is down bad. a16z and other tOp TiEr investors are probably down even worse. This reflects everything that’s wrong with the industry: - Massively overfunded VCs bidding valuations to infinity - Founders with ego issues allowing bids to infinity - Too much focus on infra and academic experiments instead of real businesses with revenue - Blind public investors aping for quick flips without understanding what they’re buying Stop complaining, because as long as you won't show more discipline with your investments, nothing will change.

It was 2006. My friend and I, as part of our weekend activities, frequently stopped by an apartment where a few women he knew from college lived. Sometimes they served us dinner. I thought one of them was cute and we had some flirty banter. I joked that she had cooked for us enough times that I owed her dinner but didn't know how to cook. So I was taking her out. A nice Italian restaurant uptown, she would love it. She laughed but agreed. Her "date prep" consisted of putting on boot cut jeans and a green polo shirt with barely any makeup. When she was getting ready, which consisted of taking a shower and straightening her hair, she told her roommates she didn't think it was actually a date, I was just paying her back for the time she cooked for me. My rent at that time was $280/month (it was a dump), and I was making $800/month at an internship while I applied for master's degree programs. I had banked ~$300 over the previous 4 months with the intention of getting a noisy catalytic converter replaced on my car. Instead, I spent $125 of that on taking this girl out to dinner. She grew up in the country with Germanic and Irish roots, didn't eat Italian food other than some spaghetti or lasagna. She thought it was fancy when I told the waitress to bring us a bottle of valpolicella. She joked "I've never had that before but it doesn't sound like Franzia." She was a poorly-committed vegetarian (for health and aesthetic reasons mostly, and it was popular at that time among college students), and was looking at eggplant parmesan but was anxious about if it would be good. I stopped her and said "look, I grew up around good Italian food, will you let me order for you?" She looked at me first with some suspicion, then a slight smirk. She said "ok but if this is bad you owe me another dinner." The waitress came to our table and I said "She'll have ossobuco. I'll have eggplant parmesan." She said with a flirty grin "what did you just order me?" I said "don't worry about it, you'll love it, and if you don't, we'll trade. You can have my eggplant and I'll eat yours." She said that's when she knew it was a date. When her ossobuco came, she was reluctant at first., but devoured it after the first bite. We finished that bottle of valpolicella and talked for 2 hours. It was a great time. Fast forward to 2026. We've been happily married for 16 years, we have 3 kids, and she loves it when I cook steaks. If she had said "I need a deposit if we are going out", I wouldn't have talked to her again and none of this would have happened. If you need a down payment on a date, ladies, be prepared to die alone bc that is what you have chosen.
