@reggaechristmas @alshipley good god man, you've never heard There's Nothing Wrong with Love? That is the one that got its hooks in me because I was too young to appreciate Keep it Like a Secret when it came out. You in Reverse is the criminally underrated album beyond the peak run.

@reggaechristmas Big shout out to “I Only Have Eyes for You”, a strong argument for the first dream pop song

Pat Thomas@PatThomas1964
hand-drawn by Modern Lover Jonathan Richman in 1970 showing bands that attempted “god like status” vs. “artistic death” - Sterling Morrison of the Velvets held on to it.

@speckvoices what are they supposed to be called? "cool beat 43" ? "Smells like Teen Spirit" I just name all my tracks the date that I started them because trying to be clever with names on solo stuff is wack

You say this, but at UGA it’s the frat/sorority kids that are thriving. As weird as this is there is something going right in that world. So much so they are moving into the spaces that were normally the territory of nerd countercultural types. Literally starting the cool bands and hosting the cool underground concerts. As a product of 80s counter cultural it’s hard for me to admit this. But it is what is happening.

To want to do this or be part of it is some epic loser shit.

@johnvvariety dang, a lot of people on here never had the displeasure of dealing with Moe Tucker's MAGAtness on facebook. I used to know one of her kids, and he was a great dude. probably never goes home for thanksgiving anymore if ya know what i mean

@CoryMSimon hahaha yeah that's a rare one!
I sometimes feel like the mix of vinyl albums can be totally different. My used, worn out copy of REM Murmur sounds totally different than the mp3s/CD
English

@de_lab yeah, I hesitated to make the claim about the sound, since many are critical of vinyl really sounding better.
bonus tracks?! cool!
I wanted to order 'Hi Scores' by Boards of Canada but it was $200 on Amazon. 🙁

my turntable arrived today, and it sounds great!
I really think the sound from playing a record is warmer/richer than from connecting my phone to the same speakers via Bluetooth and playing the same song on Spotify.
I wanted to “keep it real” and go back to vinyl. it’s really cool to have a physical collection of vinyl and browse the art & read the lyrics on the case. more importantly, vinyl will force me to listen to the whole album in sequence as the artist intended! I like the ritual of picking a record from my collection then spinning it up too. might hit up the local record store in Corvallis this weekend!
first album I ordered was Americana by Offspring (shown), which I listened to all the way through countless times in middle school.
