@BoydMath My bivalent booster appointment was canceled due to no vaccine being delivered.

They used to give every student & staff five rapid tests every few weeks. Haven’t seen or heard about any rapid test distribution since about May. Last year at this time I could go for a PCR test whenever I wanted. It’s hard to test if you don’t have access to tests. #nspoli

Being a teacher is awesome. Being a music teacher is even more so.

There’s a reason why young people can be found in the music rooms at all times of the day - before school, after school, during school, and during break times. The music rooms are more than just a place of music-making, they’re also a place of belonging. The music rooms are home.

When you don't know what to say, a musical instrument can help you say it.

@smashliepower @BoydMath As a music educator, I am in a similar situation. Grateful to be seeing respect for the very few (1-2 per class) like me still wearing a mask.

If tools exist they’re not being provided or used. At work hardly anyone has a mask “personal choice” to put others at risk. No distancing,, people sneeze or cough without covering their mouth, ventilation is 3–4 ACH not the recommended 6–12 ACH, my booster dose is 5 months old.

To NS students, parents, teachers & staff. There are tons of CoVID infections around. NS Pediatricians strongly recommend we continue masking till school ends in 4 weeks. Protect yourselves, your classmates & teachers, your parents & family. Our healthcare system is strained.

For me, music is about love. The love of the instrument. The love of the music. The love of the ensembles. The love of the people I’ve met. The love of the feeling it gives me. The love of the experiences it has afforded me. The love of the person it has made me. I love music.

More than anything, I remember the sense of belonging given to me through music. I felt part of the wind band, I felt part of the choir, I felt part of the jazz band, I felt part of the orchestra, and I felt part of the Music Department. Feeling like you belong is so important.
