Biden wasn’t my first choice in 2020, neither was Hillary in 2016. Bear with me.. Last week, I hit 3 months with this account and it seemed like a good time to finally open up a little about myself. Professionally, I work as a DNC shill. Just kidding. I’m actually an Air Traffic Controller, working as a federal employee for over 15 years. I also serve as a locally elected Union representative. I was born and raised almost entirely in Texas. As you can imagine, I have been surrounded by conservatism my whole life. That had an influence on my early life and I leaned somewhat to the right as a teenager and into my early 20s. But my mom was a longtime union member and still is a feminist. My dad had similar views but wasn’t particularly vocal about politics unless he was backing up my mother. The tug of war was strong. When Bush ran in 2000, I was 17 so I wasn’t able to vote, but I think being in Texas, that’s likely who I would have chosen. I believed the WMD lies and supported the Iraq war, initially. But my mom was always there trying to relay how important it was to her profession to vote democrats… So I did. And she was right. About 2 years into Bush’s second term, his administration refused to bargain collectively with the union that my mother belonged to and imposed its own “contract”. A nightmare with pay cuts, draconian restrictions, and a lack of progress for the profession. A union that I now call my own. There was no turning back for me at that point! Republicans had proven that they weren’t interested in workers’ rights or doing the right things for the middle class. And it’s only gotten worse from there. I voted for Obama, twice, and have incrementally moved more and more to the left. I still have a bit of a conservative side… I enjoy guns, although I don’t own many. But I also support common sense gun regulations. I love to hunt and I love to fish, mostly when it’s fly fishing for trout. I support equal rights for everyone, regardless of sex, gender, race, sexual orientation, all of those things Healthcare should be a right Government shouldn’t be legislating away women’s abortion access or pregnancy decisions Economies grow from the middle out, not the top down I support law enforcement and the military but also hold them accountable I could go on but you get the idea. Feel free to follow me and you’ll probably get a pretty good idea of where I stand on most issues. Also, thank you so much to everyone who has followed me up to this point. I appreciate you all! Lastly, to my original point. I wanted someone that I thought would be more progressive than either Hillary and Joe. Bernie sanders, namely. But you can bet I voted for them in the general election! And now after 3+ years of Biden as president, I can confidently say that I was wrong about how progressive he is. Biden has exceeded my expectations and I’m excited to vote for him this November! One last point… I have another account that I’ve had for around 10 years. I wasn’t that active on X until probably last fall. But as I got more into it, I realized the amount of personal attacks. Since my original account had some personal information, including my actual name, I decided to just start a new account and start with a clean slate. My name is actually Jake, though.
