Not impressed @Instacart Ordered a HELIUM FILLED balloon delivered to my father in law for 91st birthday. An empty balloon was delivered. When asked to fix it, they kept all their service fees, and “gave me” a credit only for the cost of the balloon and taxes. #ripoff #dobetter

This makes me sick. Edison Motors (@EdisonMotorsLtd), out of BC, is an amazing Canadian company trying to build electric logging trucks. Really cool stuff. So far, they've done it all without government grants. Someone at the BC government convinced them to apply for a grant. They applied on their own and got rejected, which really surprised the guys. An accounting firm named MNP reached out to them, and said they could complete a re-application for them. Their fee... 20% of the amount granted by the government. Turns out MNP is the firm also hired by the government to review and approve grant applications. So MNP acted for the grantor and the grantee, which is a conflict of interest. Edison Motors brought this up to the government. Instead of investigating MNP, the BC government is now investigating Edison Motors. WTF? This is how all government programs work. It's corruption. @_edison.motors/video/7354466218260139270" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">tiktok.com/@_edison.motor…

Took my wife into work today for safety sakes. It’s -45 this morning. Saw a fellow sitting in his EV at a charging station. The businesses were still closed for him to stay warm and dawdle while his car charged. I briefly spoke with him as he went into the store. He said he’s been sitting in the car running the heaters and it was taking about twice as long to charge. The car’s range was about 280km in the cold he said. The fellow said his trip to Saskatoon from Kelowna takes about 3 times longer for charging time (sitting time). His charges today were about $100 and two hours of sitting with heaters on and the battery was only 2/3 charged. He said he liked his EV, but only in summer. But he said only if it’s not too hot, AC drains batteries very fast. So, if you live in Canada, and are considering buying an EV, make sure your pockets are deep and you’re NEVER on a schedule. I wished him luck. His name was Jack (John) from Kelowna.

Minister of Affordability and Utilities Nathan Neudorf issued the following statement in response to an electrical grid alert from the Alberta Electrical Systems Operator:   We are calling on all Albertans to reduce their electric demand immediately to essentials only. Extreme cold resulting in high power demand has put the province’s electricity grid at high risk of rotating outages tonight.   On top of high demand of our own energy generation, Alberta's grid receives electricity from neighbouring provinces. Extreme weather in Saskatchewan and British Columbia is impacting electricity sharing, which is also a contributing factor to tonight's grid alert. The Alberta Electric System Operator has activated its emergency grid management plan to work with local distribution utilities to avoid potential rolling brownouts.   Here are some easy ways to conserve electricity this evening and into the night:   • Turn off unnecessary lights and electrical appliances; • Minimize the use of space heaters; • Delay the use of major power-consuming appliances such as washers, dryers and dishwashers; • Delay charging electric vehicles and/or plugging in block heaters; • Cook with your microwave, crockpot or toaster oven instead of an electric stove or oven; • Limit the use of kitchen or bathroom ventilation fans; • Work on a laptop instead of a desktop computer (laptops are more energy-efficient than desktop units); • Unplug electric appliances when not in use, as they continue to drain energy even if they’re off (or use a power bar to cut power to multiple appliances with a single button); • Close your curtains/shades/blinds to cover drafty windows.   Albertans have a history of pulling together in times of emergency. If we all make small changes like those listed above, we can keep each other safe through another extremely cold evening.
