@deboltdrumming Paul Cain was a train wreck from beginning to end. An abuser, a predator, a fraud, a wolf. I wish Christians would educate themselves about these guys (Cain, Branham etc.) and stop talking like they are our spiritual heroes. 😓

I was at a Benny Hinn meeting in 2010 where the sound guy didn't turn on his mic for like 1/2 a second and he darted over to the sound booth and berated him in front of everyone. "You! Do your job!" then turned to the crowd and said "This is God's work! It has to be right!" I instinctually held up my middle finger from the crowd, haha.

This is why there’s so much darkness in the church: they kick out anyone who calls out their abuse. Don’t let Bethel, Jesus Image, Lou Engle, or Hinn normalize this. It’s abusive and dangerous and WRONG.

Granted this was before The Rise and Fall of Mars Hill podcast, but most everything about Mark Driscoll was already out there in the public. It’s quite baffling.

(Link in post below) While I suspect this is previously recorded, it’s disappointing that he would not acknowledge current events and at least call for an investigation. I STRONGLY suggest anyone attending Radiant reevaluate the foundation of their mandate after the revelations of Jimmy Evans clearly spiritually abusive and enabling behavior—“by their fruit you will know them.” 💔 To be blunt, Banning Leibscher, Tom Lane, and Jimmy Evans ALL warrant a second look because of their seeming willingness to support ministers accused of serious abuses of power. I say this with concern—there has been so much fallout in charismatic circles. The church cannot afford to continue to venerate the prophecies of unproven men as foundational to their existence or mandate as a body. The fallout has been unfathomable—look no further than the complete unraveling of IHOPKC. So many people were cast aside in pursuit of a mandate” that ultimately ended up being founded on the ambitions of abusive men. It also puts congregants in a deeply unfair position, where questioning or “testing” of those words becomes an attack on the foundational purpose of their community. They are then forced to go by the word of their pastor, and accept his evaluation of prophetic words given by men they have no direct relationship with or ability to observe within the context of accountable community. We all know how that turned out at IHOPKC. 💔

This Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for my family and all my friends who never left my side as I navigated some of the hardest episodes of my post-trauma journey. I am home. Still in shock. It’ll be a long road ahead but I’m eager again. A sense of safety in my body I never had before. I believe people are meant to be good.Difficult though to accept, when you have survived with certain beliefs. When your beliefs die, a part of you dies. Healing is rather a bit of death. I’m thankful too for this weird online experience. Having a reach like this feels like a fantasy because I’ve never connected with so many bright and supportive minds. The same is true in my personal life—this year, some friendships returned to me, and I love nothing more than meeting people on this same journey of healing. Some of you are practically like the family I never had. As the baby of the family, I’ll always carry a bit of this sense to want others to accept me. But I accept myself now. We carry a present power with us I think. It’s courage. And when coupled with faith too, I think nothing can bring you down. Accept your faith. Even if it’s hardly existent today ay? After coming forward about the child abuse I endured for years at the hands of a church pastor. I don’t need to hide any part of my life and it feels more real than ever even though what I lost will never return, my guiding light inside, the faith I have had that never died could not be stolen, is here still. Faith is not something we can manufacture, it must come from elsewhere. Inside. I’ll keep looking. I’ve learned to own my wounds. Not re-open them. I don’t let anxiety or depression scare me anymore, and I don’t need to spiritualize those feelings into something external like a demon. Although I still believe in deliverance ministry in some cases, EMDR therapy and the wonderful therapist I have had, has helped me regain trust with my own instincts. The place that gets damaged the most, is that nerve, trust. I told a friend that I feel like I’m 5,000 miles deep inside my own soul, moving toward a curtain. I’m finally touching the real version of myself—the person I never got to know before. I have joy again. Like a kid. A feeling I barely knew as a boy. Ideally, I’d be fully focused on an intense career in music, art, or other creative pursuits, but there were times I nearly lost my faith while chasing that kind of glory. Today, I’m grateful for the faith that remains a gift in my life. I feel rooted in love. I hope to be. I’ve read the Bible enough to know that God can redeem any situation, and that’s why I’m glad to be here for another Thanksgiving. Even on my worst days, I know I’m getting closer to the other side of healing. Any advice I’d offer fellow survivors: You don’t need to understand everyone’s wounds, take care or your own. Take courage and have faith. Isaiah 53:5 - "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."

@Jedidiahhartley Thanks for shedding light on this. I once visited Oral Roberts University as a prospective student. When they showed me around the campus prayer tower I got very creeped out. Each one of the prayer rooms was filled with pictures of Oral Roberts like he was Jesus or something 😅
