A federal judge in Texas (Trump-appointed) ruled the DOL exceeded its authority. Biden’s DOL appealed; Trump’s DOL dropped the appeals and formally rescinded the dead rule.

As Trump’s DOL moves to rip away critical overtime protections for millions of workers, I am co-leading a bill to undo that damage and instead expand overtime for hardworking Americans. The Restoring Overtime Pay Act expands and strengthens overtime protections, putting more money in the pockets of almost 30 million workers by gradually increasing the overtime salary threshold. Congress must pass this bill immediately to ensure that American workers get the compensation they have earned.
