@jasonfurman Changing grading systems almost never work (e. g. Sweden) as it is a structural and behavioral problem. What is needed is clear and transparent grade criteria (what do you need to do to get an A?) and follow-up checks (has the grading been done correctly?).

I will be enthusiastically supporting faculty legislation to cap the number of A's at Harvard at 20% (plus a bit). The collective action problem that has driven grades higher & higher over time is increasingly problematic. I hope other institutions consider similar steps.

The health information your new age aunt or racist uncle is getting from Google AI summaries are too often from random YouTube videos. Anyone can post a YouTube video and make whatever claims they want. YouTube is not a legitimate source for health info. theguardian.com/technology/202…

Words like "organic" or "fresh" is largely a marketing term, indicating that canned or frozen food is somehow "inorganic", "unfresh" or "soiled".

By extension, it is a thinly-veiled condemnation of poorer people due to their allegedly morally inferior diet and an exaltation of one's own "organic" or "fresh" diet as morally superior. In reality, there is very little difference in nutrients.

There is no such thing as "unreal" food. All food is "real". The notion that some food are "real" whereas other food is not comes from a position of economic and social privilege, looking down on canned and frozen food eaten by poor people as somehow "not real".

So is UPF though. I think if people eat real food they can save a lot of money because they are not hungry all the time. Then they can redirect those savings and afford to buy more fresh produce and support local and global farmers more directly. It also makes eating veggies more enjoyable if you cook fresh with some animal fat.

Great article on #spoongate. Thank you. I’ve actually had harassers try to defame and silence me for years for debunking telekinetic spoon bending. From the horse’s mouth on the blog of the #spoongate facilitator, you’ve shown that #spoongate promotes “psychokinesis” (i.e., telekinesis) using hands and that they admit spoons can even be bent without hands—which of course would violate the laws of physics. This proves that once and for all, my harassers don’t understand spoon bending and/or are bald-faced liars. And it also proves that they owe myself and my colleagues an apology—one that I’m sure won’t be forthcoming. 😊🙏🥄
