I cannot overstate how monumental this result is for the Wizards. After years of tanking and rebuilding, Washington finally gets rewarded with the top pick in an incredible draft class. Washington is now on the clock, with a chance to draft its long-awaited franchise superstar.

Another veteran leaves the Mystics. Emily Engstler, Sug Sutton, Stef Dolson, and Jacy Sheldon (via trade) have all gone to different teams over the last few days. We’ll see if the Mystics match the Tempo’s three-year offer sheet for Shakira Austin by Monday.

The Wizards have clinched a bottom-four record, which means they will keep their top-8 protected pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Washington will send 2026 and 2027 second-round picks to the New York Knicks as the final element of the John Wall-Russell Westbrook trade.

@DonnieDruin How would you assess the overall team depth ? I realize the draft will still affect it. We know a lot of the free agents are not starters.

@GregFinberg @strobersports I’m gonna be glad when this draft pick isn’t hanging over our head anymore. It will be a relief. Then we can be a “real” team again.

The Utah Jazz won tonight, which means the Wizards have opened a 4.5-game lead on them in the tank standings. Even if the Jazz lose their final 12 games, the Wizards would have to go 6-7 or better over their final 13 games to finish outside the league’s bottom-four records.

@blakemurphy7 I figured he was the new Kelvin Beachum.

Not convinced that Pryor is going to be the starter at right tackle. But there’s flexibility now for AZ if they bring Kelvin Beachum back along with Josh Fryar to take an edge rusher

@senorjessroot I fully believe that until we have an above average deeper offensive line and a running game improvement that no Qb will have success. The defense also has to hold their own.

While Brissett went 1-11 as a starter last season, after he was named the starter and not just a placeholder for Kyler Murray, the Cardinals went 0-9 and averaged 18.7 offensive points per game. But he "unlocked" the Arizona offense.

@HBalzer721 I have felt for awhile that not having depth is the biggest problem holding them back especially offensive line. How can you know how good your qb is if he’s running for his life constantly?

It's always interesting hearing fans criticize the Cardinals for not having depth and then be negative on the first day of free agency for adding depth.

@updatecardinals Honestly I want an offensive line and an offense that didn’t make the qb be a super hero. Our line is a qb killer. I hope that’s where we’re headed.

Personally I don’t want Malik Willis here in AZ, that’s the type of move that keeps you trash for years to come since you’ll never be bad for a top pick or good enough for playoffs Just in a sad middle ground

@RedSeazn If we had built an offensive line that provided him the protection he deserved we wouldn’t be talking about this. Watch the years that he had a better line.

If K1 gets traded, I just hope it’s to a good team with an honest fanbase. He deserves so much better than the treatment he got here in Arizona.

What if... Bidwill is playing 3D chess? Like, he had someone leak the Rivera news and spent weeks leaking that VJ and Raheem Morris were some of his top choices, so that we would all be ecstatic when they hire LaFleur? (BTW, I don't believe this for a second).
