Stop saying employers aren't paying enough that's why people need their wages topped up by Universal Credit. If you need your wages topping up because you're a bit short every month, get a second job or cut back your expenditure. It may have escaped your notice but businesses are going bust everywhere because of high energy costs, high business rates, minimum wage increases and higher employer's NI contributions. Employers can't pay more. Take some responsibility people. Stop expecting the state to bail you out!

What I don’t understand in this day & age is that if you have a government who are clearly working against it’s own people that they can’t be removed even if they do have a majority. Back in the day what they are doing to this country was called treason.

For the first time in UK history, welfare has exceeded income tax revenue. Welfare benefits is forecast at £334bn for 2025/26. Income tax receipts are projected at £329-331bn. Insanity.

@David__Osland Always puzzled me, Government tell you the minimum you must pay to get by, so you’d think that the minimum wage x 37.5 would be what is the minimum pensioners should get, or am I thick

When I started paying National Insurance contributions in 1976, the deal was that I'd get a pension providing for a basic standard of living in a then-unimaginable 50 years' time. But now I've finally got there, it's just half the minimum wage.

The UK has crossed a line. Welfare spending: £333 billion Income tax revenue: £331 billion We’re now paying out more than we bring in from workers. This is unsustainable.

The National Living Wage is right now, £12.21 per hour. In a 35 hour week you will earn £427.35 so in a year it’s £22,222 Presumably they call it a living wage because that gives you enough to live on. A pensioner gets £10,000 less than that. Greedy blighters.

Mark Ashton of Ipswich Town FC. Represents everything wrong with a small section of so called men today. Represents everything wrong with a woke society today. If there's a Mrs Ashton, she must be so embarrassed by her husband. Take me back to the day when men were men, not wet wipes.

How have they managed to destroy the “pinnacle of motorsport”. I completely agree with Zach! Sustainable fuels are the way to go, with a V8 powered engine. They have such a large audience now and they are killing the actual racing!!!
Zach Brown@the_zb_

There are some real misunderstandings here about the grumbling surrounding the regulations. I’ve seen several voices claiming that people upset about the regs are just “sour grapes” because it looks like Mercedes will dominate. That’s a mistaken take. People and drivers are aggrieved and extremely disappointed in the inherent NATURE of the regulations, and how the cars must be driven (not driven, as the case may be), and how heinously offensive it is to watch. That will not change no matter what the development trajectory looks like. The product on track looks offensive. It’s awful. And it’s inherent to the nature of the regs - it’s not changing. Harvesting for such electrification means a permanent and unchangeable sacrifice of driver differentiation in high speed. That is obvious at this point, the needs of the regulation mandate this. There’s no room to engineer around this, physics is physics. And that is a damning, heinous thing to watch. It’s so anti-racing and so anti-F1 that it’s an exercise in cognitive dissonance watching an onboard. I hope to goodness that we all refuse to try and condition ourselves to accept this as “normal” or just “something to get used to”. It’s not about parity, it’s not about who is in front or behind. You may or may not believe me when I say that, but this product would be no better if Ferrari were 2 seconds ahead of everyone. This is not F1. And I hope there is a swift and decisive fix, and a colossal push toward regulatory overhaul by 2029 with turbo V8’s with mild hybrid assist (turbo lag mitigation) and sustainable fuels. That is the solution.

Ant does make a good point. The UK government does have a history of helping on the one hand and then absolutely coming back to bite you at a later date! Remember people living in Dubai are generally following legal tax guidelines they are not breaking the law! if you don’t live and work in the uk you don’t need to pay 40% of your earnings to that country!

Minimum wage people… First job was a milk round, £12.50 for a whole morning starting at 5am. Second job paper round, £10. Third job in a factory putting inserts in magazines - £2.30 an hour. Fourth job in a factory putting handles on umbrellas - £2.80 an hour. No holiday pay, no guaranteed hours, no pension contributions, no paternity, no HR bollocks. Work hard or fuck off. We’ve bred young people to feel like job is deserved, endless benefits, endless ways to use HR if you are shit at your job. Finding good young people is very hard, some exist, so many are lazy, lack ambitious and whiny. Incentives matter.
