The regional name "Middle East" generally applies to southwest Asia west of Pakistan and Afghanistan (Iran, Iraq, Israel, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the eastern part of Turkey known also as Asia Minor, United Arab Emirates and Yemen), and northeastern Africa (Egypt and Sudan). Some consider Libya and other Arabic-speaking countries of the Maghreb to be part of the region. Popular usage once distinguished between the Near East (the westerly nations in the listing) and the Middle East (the easterly nations), but the two terms now overlap, with current practice favoring Middle East for both areas. Use Middle East unless Near East is used by a source in a story. Mideast is also acceptable, but Middle East is preferred. Peak detailing by Gaurang bhai . 😭

Because women have far worse consequences when they are caught at a vulnerable moment than men do.

I mean how are you supposed to take a document seriously when your lived reality is the exact opposite. The only explanation I have is that maybe I have moved from smaller/cleaner cities to bigger (& hence messier) cities, but that's me grasping at straws to justify reading it.

CMO Maharashtra tweets, "In the Mulund area of Mumbai, a slab from the metro construction collapsed, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to several others. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed grief over this incident and has ordered an inquiry into the matter. The state government will provide financial assistance of 5 lakh rupees to the deceased's heirs, and the cost of treatment for the injured will be borne by the state government. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured."

Has Swatch Bharat Mission actually been as successful as claimed? Reading SBM-2.0 document seems like some massive revolution occured, while to me, it feels things have gotten worse. The govt data shows 100% compliance but a casual google search paints a different picture altogether. Surely gov stats are not completely wrong, but reading these reports feels like there are two different versions of reality and we've just accepted the duality as a fact of life.
