Documents lie. Locations don't. Synthetic identities forge documents all day. They can't forge geography. deepidv Address Verification asks what's across the street. If they can't answer, they don't live there. The address-fraud signal no document check catches.

This isn’t always the case. Decentralized Sovreign held identity held locally off chain and off cloud can accomplish the benefits of digital ID, without compromising and giving into mass surveillance. The companies building this infrastructure are the ones who would like to see advancement in the space, without rights being impeded on. There was a time where physical identity was seen as the end of the world in the early 20th century, but has been vital to fighting fraud and forgery. Digital ID can do the same if done correctly. Off-cloud, on prem living on your device for you only. Accessed cryptographically with only a name and DOB when called upon with your permission. No biometrics exchanged.

Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms
BREAKING NEWS: The Justice Centre announces that it has delivered a national petition signed by 42,344 Canadians from every province and territory calling on Members of Parliament to defeat Bill C-22, the federal government’s proposed surveillance legislation. Justice Centre board member and constitutional historian Dr. John Robson formally presented the petition in Ottawa, warning that Bill C-22 would significantly expand state surveillance powers while undermining the privacy protections essential to a free society. “Privacy is not a luxury in a free society,” said Dr. Robson. “Privacy protects freedom of thought, freedom of expression, freedom of association, and the ability of ordinary Canadians to live without constant monitoring by the state.” Read the full story here: jccf.ca/42344-canadian… The Justice Centre is Canada’s leading civil liberties organization fighting for Charter rights and freedoms in the courts of law and in the court of public opinion. Founded in 2010, the Justice Centre funds lawyers across Canada, relies entirely on voluntary donations to carry out its mission, and issues official tax receipts to donors. On one side, search engines built around surveillance, profiling every query to serve someone else's interests. On the other, Qwant, built in Europe, designed around one principle : what you search for belongs to you. Taking back control doesn't require a revolution. It starts with changing your search engine. Switch to Europe. Now. 🇪🇺

@takebackourtech The idea that this is necessary is disappointing. As a provider of the service there is no need to step into these sort of boundaries. People are entitled to levels of privacy. There is better solutions to prevent spam calls or criminal activity then collecting biometric data

⚡️KYC for Your Phone? In 7 days, anonymous phones may as well be dead. A new FCC rule demands cell service operators to ask for their customer’s government IDs, personal information, and past phone numbers. This goes for SIM cards, eSIMs, and VoIP numbers. All supposedly to protect you from automated scam calls. Let’s get this straight; we’re going to create massive new loosely-protected databases of people’s personal info to protect people from scams? Its a data breach waiting to happen… 🤳Get the scoop in today’s episode (tbot.substack.com/tbot-23) 📲Your private life should stay private. Let’s start with your phone. (abovephone.com/tbot)

Bill C-22 is facing growing opposition from across the political and tech spectrum. Signal says it could leave Canada. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke calls the bill “a huge mistake.” Apple, Meta, NordVPN, Windscribe, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and even U.S. Congressional leaders are raising alarms about privacy, cybersecurity, and mass surveillance risks. thebureau.news/p/bill-c-22-su…

Good advice. But there's a bill moving through Parliament right now that could fundamentally change what privacy tools are able to promise you. Bill C-22 could require that very same VPN to build surveillance infrastructure and store your metadata. 🧵

Public Wi-Fi is convenient, but using an unsecured public network can bring increased risks. Using a VPN protects your data. Learn more: getcybersafe.gc.ca/en/secure-your…

Numbers vary by source. What’s not up for dispute is the directional read. 45 days, single-digit-percent transition in the largest national markets, ESMA wind-down powers already operationalized. The compliance load of the wind-down dwarfs the compliance load of the license itself. Customer asset migration, fresh CDD at receiving venues, travel-rule retransmission across counterparties that may not exist in six months. Most coverage hasn’t priced that in.

@shawnmarcx Concreet: T-45 dagen tot 1/7. FR stond op 16/117 CASP-licenties bij T-50 (~14% transitie). NL liep voor — Bitvavo CASP eind 2025. DE BaFin loopt achter, IT zit op 33%. 'Eight weeks' is geen check-the-box: ESMA-style wind-down zit klaar voor non-compliant CASPs.

MiCA's full Title V CASP provisions hit July 1. CASPs operating without full compliance posture by then face significant fines, license refusal, and operational suspension across all 27 EU member states. The firms still treating MiCA as 'check the box' have eight weeks to discover they're under the wrong framework. Not enough firms have hired for this.
