Five years ago I started planning one of the dumbest things I’ve ever been talked into. I say talked into because putting my stupid face in front of a camera was Dave’s idea, not mine. And I’m convinced it was because he was just sick of me talking to him about who is who and what is what in Comic Books and Movies. Almost three years ago we launched #ComicsAndCosmetics. My unique little corner of the Nerds World where I would breakdown storylines, characters etc from every corner of nerdy fandoms… while doing my makeup at the same time. Little would I know that ONE interview, my very first interview almost three years ago, would initialize a snowball effect. My dear friend @deetails literally dragged me kicking and screaming to Twitter. (Seriously, ask him. I was like no, I had nightmares in 2009…) he introduced me to the Star Wars community and from there I met @RoGazga who just found me wandering around the internet and said “here young padawan, let me teach you how to internet.” He welcomed me into the @Red5Network and I met some of the best people I’ve ever had the privilege to call friends. I started doing live streams, more interviews. I’ve lucked out MULTIPLE times and gotten to meet some of the best creative minds that have created some of my absolute favorite things! I learned more about sfx and started doing that on camera. I leaned more into #NerdyNews and psychological studies on completely fictional people… I met @sylabdul and we IMMEDIATELY decided we needed to collaborate every single week 😂 Slowly the doing my makeup while doing breakdowns became fewer and farther between. And the entire time, at least once a week someone would say “well, I like comics, but I’m not so much into the cosmetics…” and I would have to explain, “Well, that’s really secondary. I never really talk about the makeup. It’s just a thing I’m doing..” As much as I wanted to defend the name that my Dave came up with and the initial premise of my channel, and despite my overwhelming feminine desire of being RIGHT, it was becoming undeniable that my name was a hindrance. 80% of my viewership is dudes. Weird right? But, it was just another big indicator that the idea of my channel has grown far beyond what I could have first imagined. When I started I had no idea how very very big, and small at the same time, our corner of YouTube is. And it’s no secret that the channel itself, creatively, has been going through growing pains for the last year. So, to make a long story even more convoluted, I’ve made the decision to rebrand. After A LOT of pushing back against it because after three years I’m known as Comics And Cosmetics. I didn’t want to lose people due to confusion. But I couldn’t think of ANY other name that not only explained what the channel was but also told my current followers/subs that it’s still me. Then it hit me, I’m not just the one thing. I’m like, all the nerdy things. I still want to do the makeup when I feel like it. I definitely want to continue SFX, and Nerdy News, and Streams, and sci-fi, and your mom, and theories and speculation… So, it hit me! The channel/podcast/pages (except Facebook probably because they’re dillholes) is now COMICS AND… Because it’s pretty much Comics And (insert nerdy thing here) It’s going to take a little time for me to change things across platforms. For the ones that I can… looking at you Facebook! Be patient with me. It’s just me here. Everything content-wise won’t really be changing. This just gives me more room to do what I’ve been doing. It’s more indicative of what I’m about, I think. I want to thank every single last one of you who have held on and actually supported my dumb idea this whole time. I know there aren’t many in the #NerdlingArmy, but I appreciate you. Please don’t stop watching, my watch hours can’t take it 😂😂😂 And thank you for those that actually do.
