Congrats to Autumn Durald Arkapaw whose early credits include the music video for HAIM’s Falling

It’s sad it took 98 years for the Academy to rectify this egregious error (and the first female nominee being Rachel Morrison for 2017’s MUDBOUND), but delighted it happened for Arkapaw. It speaks to Coogler’s inclusiveness of female artists behind the camera of studio films.

PTA’s directing Oscar was long overdue but what excites me more is that the likes of Zhao and Coogler are very much at the start of their careers with two arguably magnum opus films of theirs being nominated this year and to me that’s beautiful 🥰
