Banks arguing stablecoins will destroy banking business, packed under pro local business of “community banks”. The name community great addition for the politics of course. Well, why can’t people with their stablecoins lend it undercollateralized to the banks themselves, so they can have their fractional banking but pay the principle to their users. It is pure gatekeeping and ugly to witness. But this is also what intermediaries have been all about. We got bag biased to congratulate institutions moving onchain, forgetting its disruptive effect against those same incumbents whose Bloomberg tokenization shills we applaud. The biggest advantage we have has always been retaining the power to design the space to which incumbent institutions are onboarded to, that’s the only chance to change the rules of the game for masses.
