@iGargleCement a more influential bias and over representation comes from the data being collected from only players that interact with the website which is a subset of the player base, not necessarily from inactive or low rank players being included. that’s barely even an educated guess atp

@degreegory @Dorkstrict I don't think any sane person is arguing that ALS is accurate, but it is still a decent tool to roughly guess the ranked distribution of active players (considering about 30% bias towards diamond)

Proof the current rank system is a funnel that pushes players to the top.. how is a quarter of the players the 3rd highest rank in the game... Makes zero sense. Rank points need to be harder to earn or we need to add more ranks between diamond and pred

@iGargleCement u could be right or wrong but we cant safely make that assumption or consider data negligible. some people may play ranked for a bit, not enjoy it, and go back to wildcard. we are abstracted from this skill lvl but they exist. this is why respawn uses mmr matchmaking even in pubs

@degreegory @Dorkstrict You cannot be hardstuck in a rank with no entry cost, it is literally impossible. Surviving for 30 seconds was enough to go positive in season 25 bronze. Every single person in bronze just didn't play ranked. If you don't play the mode, you shouldn't be included into it's stats

@Dorkstrict this is skewed data and isnt a full display of the player base. it represents players that use those sites. all 3rd party tracker data is skewed bc casuals dont care to look up their stats and trackers dont have access to all player data vs respawn dev’s data (2 pics). make a vid

@iGargleCement @Dorkstrict my main point is that these external api are inaccurate, so should not be held as a single source of truth. these sites only use data from ppl that use them, fanatics like us who get on twitter and overly care about the game.

@iGargleCement @Dorkstrict + respawn moved to mmr to assign initial season rank so stale accounts may be in higher ranks too. also cant expect an even normal distribution, bc apex isnt a 1 team vs 1 team game it’s a br with different play styles that assume there is a 5% (1/20) chance of winning.

@iGargleCement @Dorkstrict How can 20% of players be in a rank with zero entry cost? um, these players likely do not play ranked. but this data is definitely more reliable that “self-reported” data. respawn is able to paint a larger picture rather than a subset.

We have looked into the recent reports surrounding Apex Packs not rewarding Heirloom Shards after 500 packs are opened, and identified a bug that affected a very small number of users. This bug only impacted users who had all but 1 Mythic remaining to be unlocked, AND levelled up their Horizon Prestige skin to level 2 or 3 prior to March 17th, 2026. The bug has been resolved and all affected accounts have been sent 150 Heirloom Shards and a Legendary Apex Pack. Accounts at large otherwise are not impacted and the system is working as intended.
