He picked up his Toyota Hilux just 8 or 9 days ago in San José, Costa Rica, then drove it 200+ miles down to the beach and off-roading spots he’s filming from now — complete with water crossings and rough roads. He’s raving to all the “car people” about how perfect it is: manual diesel 4x4, super durable, crazy fuel-efficient. He’s already planning the exact same 200+ mile drive back tomorrow… and figures he’ll still have half a tank left. So when he asks why don’t have these in the States, I think it’s because it’s a well-built vehicle that’s still going strong at 260,000 miles and because it’s so fuel-efficient. But, I’m leaning more toward the fuel efficiency, honestly. What’s one car or truck you’ve loved on a trip that we don’t really get here in the States?
