NIGERIAN ARMY DISMISSES RECIRCULATED FALSE REPORT ON THE 2021 DEATH OF LATE MAJOR GENERAL HASSAN AHMED
The Nigerian Army has noted with concern a misleading social media report currently circulating, falsely claiming the recent killing of Late Major General Hassan Ahmed and the abduction of his wife near Abuja. This report is completely false and is a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.
For the avoidance of doubt, the tragic incident involving Late Major General Hassan Ahmed occurred on 15 July 2021 along the Abuja–Lokoja Road. Security agencies promptly investigated the matter, leading to the arrest of the assailants and the due administration of justice.
The Nigerian Army condemns in the strongest terms the irresponsible recycling of this five-year-old incident by mischief makers to create unnecessary panic and distort facts. Such actions are mischievous and aimed at undermining public confidence.
Members of the public are strongly advised to disregard the false report and refrain from sharing unverified or outdated information. The Nigerian Army remains fully committed to its constitutional duties of defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and maintaining peace and security.

She will spend the Eid period in Daura, continuing the longstanding tradition of our late boss, former President Muhammadu Buhari, who always preferred to celebrate Eid in his hometown among his people.

Police arrest Eke Henry Ifeanyi with drugs worth over N7bn ...He was using PoS paper business as cover for drug trafficking
Operatives of zone 2 headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have arrested Ekeh Henry Ifeanyi, a Lagos-based businessman, over alleged involvement in the trafficking of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.
The suspect reportedly operated under the guise of selling receipt printing papers used for point-of-sale (PoS) terminals while allegedly running a large-scale illicit drug operation from his residence in Lagos.
On Saturday, Moshood Jimoh, assistant inspector-general of police (AIG) in charge of zone 2, led journalists and senior officers to the suspect’s apartment at Arowojobe estate in the Maryland area of the state, where cartons of PoS printing papers and bags containing suspected cannabis were recovered.
During the inspection, cartons of receipt paper were seen stacked in one section of the apartment, while several bags of the illicit substance were discovered in another room deeper inside the building.
The discovery reportedly left some residents of the estate stunned, with neighbours expressing shock over the alleged activities linked to the suspect.
Addressing journalists at the scene, Jimoh said police operatives had monitored Ifeanyi for months following intelligence reports before eventually arresting him on May 19.
The AIG alleged that the suspect relied on the PoS paper business to conceal his drug dealings and avoid attracting suspicion.
He also accused him of driving with a fake number plate bearing the inscription “Presidency, NYCN” as part of efforts to evade security checks.
“For several months, we intensified our surveillance around him. On 19th May, 2026, we were successful,” Jimoh said.
According to the police, a search of the apartment led to the recovery of 425 bags of Canadian Loud estimated to be worth about N7 billion.
“We are going further to investigate those who have collaborated with him at every level to get this thing (illicit drugs) into the country,” the AIG added.
“Our investigation is ongoing and we have made significant progress in arresting those involved in the distribution of these illicit drugs.”
When questioned by journalists, the suspect admitted ownership of the seized drugs and said he supplied them to individuals who distribute the substance to neighbouring countries.
