Is the outrage over Spygate understandable? An act of crass stupidity, I’ll grant you. But this is less Philby and Burgess and more Laurel and Hardy. Some hapless intern is sent to film from 400M on his smart phone the Middlesbrough team kicking footballs. What searing insights would the Southampton side have got? ‘Ok boss they’re kicking the ball with both their left and right feet. Sometimes they’re heading it.’ It’s all so silly. Southampton look like a right bunch of Charlies. But in the pantheon of great sporting scandals, this is pimple sized
Henry Winter@henrywinter

The outrage about Spygate is understandable. If proven, it’s cheating. It’s seeking to gain a sporting advantage over an opponent. Let’s hope this ire is also now focused on other varieties of cheating in football, namely the amount of deceit that can stain games... 1/2

@DPJHodges They are underperforming but all developed markets are higher today. Mostly 7-9bp up vs circa 12 on Gilts.

"We asked 48m voters, what would win the Red Wall back for Labour?" "You said... rejoin the EU, bring in digital ID, abolish jury trials, scrap North Sea oil, do nothing on immigration and appoint Gordon Brown." "If it's up there, I'll give you the money myself." #Starmergeddon

The following HMRC tax receipts have gone ‘down’ since Labour ‘increased’ their rates: 1. Capital Gains Tax (people just sold fewer assets) 2. North Sea oil & gas (people invested less because of 78% windfall tax) 3. National Insurance (people hired less staff) @CutMyTaxUK

The Prime Minister is acting like he's going to be there for the next two years. He’ll be lucky if he lasts two weeks.

A reminder that the Leave campaign has had a slogan ready to go since the last referendum. 'Tell them again' looks like the easiest win in political history to me. The Rejoin terms would be so abject that, whatever the polls say now, many 2016 Remainers would vote to stay out
Tim Shipman@ShippersUnbound

As one of the chroniclers of Brexit, I am truly inspired by the lengths Nick Clegg, Ben Judah and others are going to in order to get me to write a fifth book. They can't actually believe they would win a Rejoin referendum, can they?

I want to vote for a party that will: - scrap the triple lock (move to GDP/capita lock) - build significant infrastructure and homes (e.g. Forest City) - spend less on healthcare (e.g. move to insurance model) - cancel most student loans (for many, uni is a waste of time and money) - completely stop low-quality immigration - help businesses adjust to higher cost of labour (automation loans etc) - spend more on defence - means test state pensions - commit to experimenting with alternate education models (idk what will work in the future, but not what we have) There’s no option right now that even gets me half.

Highly emotional for me, because I had a friend in grade school named Daniel Dreyfuss who was a descendant of Alfred. Could Uriel be related to Daniel from Bnei Brak? See also Emil Zola's J'Accuse:

THIS. IS. INCREDIBLE. 131 yrs. ago Alfred Dreyfuss, falsely accused of espionage, was stripped of his French army rank: lieutenant-colonel. Last week, Uriel Dreyfuss, a direct descendant of Alfred, was promoted to the IDF rank of…lieutenant colonel!! The nation of Israel lives!

Wow wow wow. Take a minute to watch these incredibly powerful remarks from a Rabbi in London. I’ll add - if you’ve never had to send a loved one an “are you ok?” text after yet another attack, kindly stfu.

@DPJHodges Even if he were blocked from “technically” leaving NATO, does it still real exist as a relationship if the commander-in-chief says he will not fulfil the requirements of article 5 when called? Of course not. I’d question if it truely still exists now with this speculation.

Can we just clear this up. This idea Trump is locked into NATO by statute and Congresss is utter rubbish. If he wants to withdraw every US soldier, and close every US base in Europe tomorrow, he can do it. He doesn't need anyone's approval.

From today, Working British parents will both now need to earn a combined total of £71,000 just to match the benefits of non-working families with 3 children. Labour always tax the productive to subsidise the unproductive.
