@delgriffith07 @grahamwettone Exactly, mate - my very first arrest in the police was a prison gate arrest for a bloke wanted for burglary, having served a sentence for burglary. His girlfriend was stood across the road with a short skirt and bag of beers - he was fairly upset, to be fair! 😂

How did the burglaries, robberies and vehicle crimes on the area where I was an ignorant young sergeant actually get solved? ... I later did violent crime as well. (These categories of crime were the KPIs we were given by government in those days). 1/

@grahamwettone @MentalHealthCop It worked from the burglars perspective as it meant not being gate arrested on release and a day out from prison it was particularly effective on burglary non res figures. Massive jump in clear ups but as you say who’s got the manpower to drive it now with no proactive squads.
