What I don't get about academia is the chronic lack of celebration. It is hard to get & maintain grant funding, hard to get papers accepted without Faustian bargains, hard to be a great mentor, & hard to maximize trainee success. All of it is hard. We should celebrate everything.

Rectal bleeding is associated with a fivefold increased risk of #ColorectalCancer, according to new findings from a study conducted by #FightCRC's #EOCRC Working Group. The study, led by @dembj13 (@UCSDHealthSci) and @JenKolbMD (@LosAngelesVA), has been published in the @JAMANetworkOpen and featured in the @nytimes. Key findings of the study include: ▶ The most common presenting symptoms among individuals with EOCRC were blood in the stool (45%), abdominal pain (40%), and change in bowel habits (altered bowel habits) (27%). ▶ Blood in the stool and abdominal pain were associated with a significantly higher risk of EOCRC. ▶ On average, it takes four to six months for younger adults to receive a diagnosis after first going to a caregiver with a complaint about a symptom. nytimes.com/2024/05/24/hea…
