Bill C-22 is facing growing opposition from across the political and tech spectrum. Signal says it could leave Canada. Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke calls the bill “a huge mistake.” Apple, Meta, NordVPN, Windscribe, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and even U.S. Congressional leaders are raising alarms about privacy, cybersecurity, and mass surveillance risks. thebureau.news/p/bill-c-22-su…

Bill C-22 empowers the government to order VPN providers in Canada to retain metadata for up to a year. The EU's highest court has struck down this type of mass data retention legislation twice already, suggesting it won't stand up to scrutiny: 1. eff.org/node/81899 2. ccdcoe.org/incyder-articl… We're going to reiterate this one more time: there is no universe in which Proton VPN compromises its no-logs policy.

Regarding Canada's Bill C-22: @ProtonVPN is Swiss. Complying with foreign surveillance orders without Swiss legal process is a criminal offence. Not happening. We'll defend our Canadian users and never compromise them. We will fight C-22's application by every means available.

Bill C-22 creates a front door, not a back door, to Canadian's data, and it gives the keys to the government and does so in secret. These are just some of the reasons I opposed Bill C-22 today, at least in it's current form. Watch below. My thanks to @privacylawyer, @mgeist, @robertdiab, the @CDNConstFound and others for their analysis and advocacy which greatly informed my remarks. I remain open to reviewing and considering proposals for lawful access.

@DrJacobsRad I agree. What AI does do however is it increases the productivity by eliminating less complex/simple tasks which increases throughput/volume of work thatc can be doneby thatsame person. The engineers and doctors and lawyers actually become even more valuable in these cases.

As a radiologist who was told that my job would disappear in 10 years exactly 12 years ago, let me tell you why this prediction is completely wrong. I was the Canadian clinical lead on the first commercial GE AI radiology project. I'm not a computer programer, but I understand what I'm talking about. Because the math behind AI is a probability model, if it is missing an input, it must generate a best guess to fill in that data point. Often the guess is close enough, sometimes it is comedically wrong and depending on how this error is compounded, the output can end up being ridiculously incorrect. Tasks like answering emails, research, and calculations are all within the area of competence of more sophisticated AI programs. Anything requiring innuendo or out of the box thinking is where humans are required. Will AI replace call center attendants? Almost certainly. Will it replace a lawyer working on a complex piece of litigation? Not a chance. What we saw with radiology was, that after a similar decree by someone who had no training in the field of medical imaging, there was anxiety in those who had previously expressed interest in the field. However, since that time, the demand for radiologists has exploded. We can't train enough of them fast enough to meet the clinical needs. Why? The irony is that it was partly because of AI at the field expanded so rapidly. AI algorithms allowed for MRIs to function far more efficiently creating greater volumes which necessitates more Radiologists. Medicine has also shifted towards more image and lab utilization, separate from the advent of AI. So don't worry when someone outside of your field tells you that your job will be gone and a month, a year, or a decade. As they say, Jon Snow, you know nothing.

Officers pulled this guy over for a broken tail light and suspicion of DUI. What they got instead was a sobriety test they will never forget. We’ve seen thousands of hours of body cam footage, but this footage from Conway, Arkansas, remains in a league of its own. Most drivers get a pit in their stomach when the red and blues start flashing—but Blayk Puckett saw a stage. Blayk, a student at the University of Central Arkansas, was driving home from a late-night study session at the library. A Conway PD officer noticed he had a broken brake light and was driving a bit slow, leading to a pull-over on suspicion of a DUI. When asked if he had anything on him the officers should know about, Blayk didn't reach for his ID—he mentioned he was a magician and had a "magic wand" in his pocket. Instead of a standard field sobriety test, Blayk made a legendary proposition: "I'll do some magic/juggling if you insist." With the officers’ blessing (and their own phones out to record), Blayk grabbed his juggling pins and went to work right there in the parking lot of a local BBQ joint. His coordination was so flawless that the officers didn't just realize he was sober—they became his biggest fans. You can hear the genuine laughter in the background as one officer admits, “You just made my night.” No handcuffs, no tickets—just a warning for the brake light and a handshake. Blayk later said he wanted to show that police interactions can be positive and humanizing. In a world of high-speed chases and intense legal battles, this remains a gold standard for what happens when a little personality meets a lot of professional courtesy. This was great to see how the officers were having a good time while on a stop. Something that rarely ever happens.

🚨MAJOR BREAKING: Donald Trump has arrived in China to find that President XI did NOT greet him at the airport. MAGA is in spin mode heralding the “red carpet treatment,” but the visit is already at a rocky start. Instead of a presidential welcome, Trump was greeted by US Ambassador to China David Perdue; Xi’s vice president, Han Zheng; China’s Ambassador to Washington Xie Feng; and Executive Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ma Zhaoxu. I’m sure Trump would hate if you shared this and rubbed it in all day long.

I’m coming to the conclusion that the biggest challenge for Enterprise AI, and AI in general , as of now, is that it’s still impossible to make sure that everyone gets the same answer to the same question, every time. Which is a great response to the doomers. AI doesn’t know the consequences of its output. Judgement and the ability to challenge AI output is becoming increasingly necessary, and valuable. Which makes domain knowledge more valuable by the second. Am I wrong ?

BREAKING NEWS: 🚨 In a significant development for global energy dynamics, Trump has signed an order approving Bridger Pipeline’s ambitious Canada-Wyoming crude oil project. The proposed 647-mile, 36-inch pipeline will carry up to 550,000 barrels per day of Canadian crude—potentially scaling to over one million—from the border through Montana into Wyoming’s Guernsey hub, at an estimated cost of $2 billion. This initiative taps directly into existing Canadian infrastructure, including segments once tied to the stalled Keystone XL, and is projected to boost Canadian crude exports to the United States by more than 12 percent. This decision marks a clear acknowledgment of Canada’s commanding position in the oil sector—one far more formidable than many in Washington had calculated. For years, American policymakers pursued strategies to diminish reliance on external supplies, yet the realities of surging domestic demand and constrained alternatives have forced a pragmatic recalibration. The U.S. required a tangible win in energy infrastructure to stabilize refining capacity and secure steady feedstock flows; - without Canada’s vast reserves and proven export reliability, that victory would remain elusive. The pipeline’s approval is not an act of generosity but a strategic necessity, underscoring how indispensable Canadian oil production and its supporting pipelines have become to American operations. Canada stands to gain immensely: enhanced market access for its producers, strengthened revenue streams for the industry, and reinforced leverage in continental energy flows. Far from diminishing Canada’s stature, this project amplifies it, compelling the U.S. to engage on terms that recognize the depth and resilience of Canadian resources. While broader policy pivots in Washington continue—emphasizing rapid approvals for select infrastructure—this particular move reveals the limits of unilateral approaches and the enduring value of Canada’s oil industry as a cornerstone of stability even as Canada begins to dramatically pivot from the Americans. The momentum builds, and Canada’s influence in this critical sector only grows stronger. 🇨🇦 #CanadianEnergy #OilPower

I made a free Claude Code Blueprint. Most Claude Code courses are tutorials. The Blueprint is interactive. You install Claude Code, open the folder I send you, type "Start Lesson 1," and Claude teaches you while you use Claude Code itself. 60 minutes from start to finish. You end with a real tool deployed on the internet, all for free. Watching tutorials doesn't teach you Claude Code. Using it does. Whenever I talk to non-technical folks about using Claude Code, the same problem keeps coming up. They install it, watch a few explainers, then quit when nothing they're seeing maps to what they actually want to build. The fix isn't another explainer. It's putting your hands on the tool from minute one. That's what the Blueprint is for. By the end of one short interactive session, you'll know: - How a single slash command can research any company in 60 seconds, instead of 30 minutes by hand - The trick to getting three Claude agents working in parallel inside one session - The CLAUDE .md pattern that makes Claude predictable, not chaotic - How to put your first Claude Code build on the internet, no terminal needed The tool you build is yours. A public URL on the open internet, the kind you can text to a friend. Comment "BLUEPRINT" below and I'll DM it to you (must be following)
