@deniseminger @exfatloss No, I started to eat sardines now, and my mouth sometimes smells like what my cat's mouth smells after eating her cat food.

@deniseminger @exfatloss Nice cat! My cat was named Shadow, since at night she looked like a shadow. I use her photos in my profile pic. No, I'm not a cat, I'm a thoughtful adult human male.

@exfatloss @deniseminger I'm a human but sometimes get accused of being a cat. That's one reason I don't proofread my posts so people know I'm not AI also.

@exfatloss @JoshRainerGold I like to be hungry and then food tastes so good, it maximizes the deliciousness. It’s much less gratifying if no hunger. I think a history of overweight/obesity alters how hunger is experienced though and probably makes it excruciating.

New post: 1 decade of keto - I've been on keto for over 10 years now - Lost & regained 100lbs - It put my Non-24 circadian rhythm disorder into remission within 3 days - Keto can be done right, but SAK (standard american keto) is a death trap w/ all the seed oils and excess protein - Finally figured it out with ex150 (the heavy cream diet) and am down over 80lbs again - 2 years after cutting out linoleic acid, I no longer "need" keto for my Non-24 - it's just gone Read here: exfatloss.com/p/1-decade-of-…

I always thought I was AA because of my parents’ types, but my mom is AB and I just asked my dad and he is AO so I could be either. I think it makes sense that blood type affects microbiome composition (since some gut bacteria can eat the blood group antigens), and that could affect tolerance for different foods, but I have no idea how big of a contribution that would make overall. Definitely seems like most veg-leaning people are A, though! Same for me on HCLF. I had really specific cravings after being sub 10% fat for awhile, and adding eggs and seafood killed them entirely. I could live very happily on fruit + sushi fish/rice + shrimp + liver once in awhile.

You’re the only person who’s made me reconsider the possibility of the merit of blood type stuff. I remember you saying you’re type A but do you know if you’re AA or AO? I think the reason I can do so well at either end would be because I’m AO. I’m at the point where I like to see which cravings subside and which popup during these various interventions. I’ve never had hyperphagia in my life like deep into carnivore. 8000 calorie carb binges. But just maintaining a decent carb intake put all that to rest. High carb low fat creates cravings which feel more pointed and deliberate. Lots of seafood. But over time I think there’s an issue with fat soluble vitamins especially A, and I really need a cheeseburger or 10

@deniseminger @JoshRainerGold Pretty much on the fire watchers. No place? I became a programmer, and most of the other people with CRDs I know are writers, artists, or something similar you can work on alone & night. You became a writer, didn't you?

I’ve always gotten along best with other night owls even when I didn’t know they were night owls at the onset and that sure explains a lot. I don’t track wake times, and haven’t done any intentional diet experiments in ages, but I’m probably going to up my fruit intake as the beginning of Arizona’s 9-month hot season arrives, so this will be a good time for data!

@deniseminger @JoshRainerGold Ok that sounds more severe :D This explains why you're such a weirdo😅 CRDs often make people into weirdos due to being awake when everyone else is asleep.. It would be interesting to see how your CR moves w/ diet changes, do you track wake times?

Can I interest you in my 10,000 word magnum opus on circadian rhythms, jet lags, and CRDs? exfatloss.com/p/sleep-jet-la… tl;dr: our circadian rhythm works sort of like a spring, being compressed & expanding. You can compress it harder, to a point. Most people can easily shift around +/- 1 hour (like DST) and only be mildly tired. 2h is hard, much more requires extreme measures. The "spring strength" is largely determined by your genetics, we even know which genes are involved. The best book I've read on this topic is Internal Time by Roenneberg.

@exfatloss @JoshRainerGold I want to believe we were all the fire-watchers of our tribes, generations ago, doing the night shift no one else wanted, and modern society just has no place for our sleepless gifts.

The closest I ever got to carnivore was six weeks of keto without many vegetables, a super long time ago, and tbh my only memories are of not being able to ride a bike up a hill because my legs felt so weak and also not liking the feeling of never being truly hungry. Actually I do remember getting up pretty early during that time, which might mean I fell asleep earlier too. So maybe it did do something. I don’t recall feeling very well rested at any point. That was my exact same experience with fruit. Sleep was phenomenal and I actually woke up with the sun and wanted to spring out of bed and run around!

@deniseminger @exfatloss Sounds like we are same. Did you ever do carnivore? I had a similar sleep window shift but it didn’t feel as snappy or restful. Sugar diet was high energy, easy to sleep, wake up beaming with energy.

“If you do really hardcore circadian protocols like zero artificial light, spending all day outside in the sun, etc. does it move the needle at least slightly?” You didn’t ask this to me but I’m going to make it about me because I’m an only child; I’ve had marginal success with all of the above, like if I’m camping with no phone/artificial light/etc. I can fall asleep slightly earlier than usual, but it’s still a lot of lying there being awake feeling viscerally like I’m not supposed to go to sleep yet. I think that during daytime, the psychic airwaves are clogged with other people’s terrible thoughts and it only becomes peaceful after everyone is asleep and so I always want to be awake when no one else is. I like my metaphysical explanation best, but biology is probs involved too

My sleep cycle also moved earlier by ~1-2h on a pure carb diet. Forget if it was honey diet or rice diet now. Unfortunately DSPS is unlikely to improve with keto as my N24 did; you probably "just" have an insanely long circadian rhythm. If you do really hardcore circadian protocols like zero artificial light, spending all day outside in the sun, etc. does it move the needle at least slightly?

Woah this is super interesting. My natural fall sleep time is around 2 am, and the only time it went to normal person hours was when I was a fruitarian. I thought that was due to being outside in the sun all day, but I’ve had outside sun periods since then and I am still night owling.

@exfatloss Non-24 is interesting I may have a similar issue. Carnivore made it better. Sugar diet completely annihilated it. Have never slept that well
