I’ve never shared this before:
I was stranded in Lagos once. Lost my purse in a crowded bus.
So I just stood by the side of the road, helpless, trying to call someone, anyone.
Then one Hausa man approached me, I could tell from his accent. Asked what happened, helped me catch a new bus, paid for it, made sure I got to exactly where I was going.
And in that moment, I realized:
