@keaukraine @Acerola_t Sadly overdraw is the whole point lol, really adds a sense of depth. It's for 3D pixel art, so it only runs at 640x360, and is costing ~1ms for 10 layers on my 1060 laptop. I haven't optimised it yet, ~0.4ms is just Godot getting the attenuation, so there's work to do there :)

@denovodavid @Acerola_t I bookmarked this. I'm pretty sure I won't ever use this technique because overdraw is insane but it looks way too cool :P

Turns out I just made a form shell texturing, but didn't know it until @Acerola_t unveiled the illusion. It's god rays using several planes aligned with the sun that discard based on shadowing, giving the illusion of crisp volumetric fog #AcerolaFurryChallenge

@TharikFad Instanced billboard sprites with custom lighting to blend them together. Will likely switch to particle based grass when I have a proper terrain system

@denovodavid How did you make that grass? It's really cool looking. From the side it looks just like a flat plane mesh.

@canopy_studio Love the sounds design! I use OBS with hardware encoding for recording, then pass that through HandBrake with the "Creator 720p60" preset outputting MP4. Seems to do alright on this app, but still crunches it down a bit.

I just found out you can override project settings with a simple text file in #godot!
I'm working on a video, so having different settings for each part is particularly useful :) #GodotEngine #GodotTips #gamedev

Rendering hooks and more custom render pipeline options will come to #godotengine soon enough... but you always have source code access if you can't wait ;)
