Where’s the media on this? 👀 Transparency goes both ways, Gabi (Elevate Utah). Turns out Gabi Finlayson’s mom is a partner at Holland & Hart, the same firm with: -a major data center practice -conferences on outsourcing business to China That makes Gabi’s “nothing to see here” giggling response look a whole lot less honest, doesn’t it? 🤔 Is it possible that her mom’s firm represents somebody with competing interests? I appreciate those who’ve been sending me info on this, and I’d love to see more. For my Democrat friends: I’ve acknowledged there are concerns with the Box Elder Data Center issue. If you want republicans and democrats to work together towards a solution, you don’t get to look the other way when it’s your side.

There is some really bad reporting here. A project that cost $100+ billion, and only yields ~ $100 million to local community is really bad math. Until Google, Meta, Blackstone show up, this is a Borat like skit. deseret.com/utah/2026/05/1…

@alisha_ann94 @NateForUtah I respect you Alisha. SB132 enabled the data center like the one in Box Elder to build behind-the-meter power plant. Without it, it couldn’t happen. SB132 is AS CONSEQUENTIAL as SB169.

@derekkitchen @NateForUtah It's incredibly dishonest to pretend that a bill meant to limit the electricity cost impact to residential users is the same thing as SB169 which was the actual MIDA deal for this specific data center.

When people ask why I can’t support @NateForUtah, here’s one clear example beyond him being among the least impactful Democrats in the legislature. It’s about honesty.

@derekkitchen @NateForUtah SB132 does explicitly, however, say that any project with large scale electricity development needs by law cannot negatively impact, aka drive up the cost of, residential Utahns electricity costs.

@derekkitchen @NateForUtah I have been clear that I have criticisms of Nate's ineffectiveness in the state legislature as well, but what you're posting here is at best mistakenly incorrect and at worst intentionally dishonest.

Hi Derek, thank you for your feedback. What I'm actually talking about here is SB 169, which gave MIDA additional powers and reduced their public notice requirements. Honesty is important, so I hope we can agree you should retract this baseless attack. le.utah.gov/~2024/bills/st…

Politics isn’t about what a politician says when they’re fundraising. It’s about what they do when the vote is called. Utah needs representatives who are honest about their record, especially when they’re asking for your money based on it.

In the legislature, everyone knows: the 3rd reading vote is the one that counts. It’s the vote of record. The one in the history books. Casting a protest vote on 2nd reading, then voting yes when it matters, is a way of having it both ways. Voters deserve to know the difference.

This. We need unity behind one progressive candidate or we're going to end up sending an anti-worker, anti-union, anti-women, anti- affordable healthcare, anti- public lands, anti-environment "Dem" back to Congress.
Kael Weston@KaelWeston

Progressive CD1 candidates — all three of you — on our Dem Party’s June primary ballot: You need to talk. Sooner, not later. Bluntly. Respectfully. And compromise. … On behalf of all Utah Democrats in our Beehive State.

🚨BREAKING: @derekkitchen ENDORSES @Liban4congress TODAY! This comes after Kitchen was the first candidate to leave the race and not file as a candidate during this week’s congressional filing period.  Kitchen previously served on the Salt Lake City Council and was elected to the Utah State Senate in 2018, where he became one of the few openly LGBTQ+ legislators in America. He also served in the Biden Administration as Senior Vice President at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. He is also a small business owner, running a restaurant in Salt Lake City.

As a tireless advocate for preserving our world’s natural beauty, Yvon Chouinard understands the importance of protecting Utah’s public lands and outdoor spaces for future generations to enjoy. I am so grateful for his fight for our environment and am honored to have his support and trust. If you send me back to Washington, I will do everything in my power and work with everyone willing to work with me to preserve our public lands.

Democrat Liban Mohammed has officially qualified for the Democratic primary in Utah's 1st CD. It's now a 4-way primary race with McAdams, Blouin and Farrell. Eva Lopez Chavez is still 1002 signatures short. Last day to verify signatures is tomorrow. #utpol
